Vehicle Detail

1963 ford fairlane ranch wagon, 8 passenger with optional rear facing jump seat. A rare find, all stock with no modifications done. Car is equipped with a 260 v8 with a 3 speed on the tree with the optional dash mounted overdrive transmission. Car is an original California car with original black and yellow California license plates.Car also is equipped with an aftermarket mark 1v moniter air conditioner that was installed in 1971. AC needs recharging but fan blows perfect. All glass is in excellent condition except for windshield ( $ 225.00 ) which has a crack in it. Engine and transmission run smoothly with no weird noises or leaks. Just had brand new clutch installed and flywheel resurfaced, new u joints. Within the last 1,000 miles had the brakes redone with all new wheel cylinders and new brake fluid, new brake master cylinder, spark plugs and fuel pump with fuel filter and new water pump. Interior is very clean with rear seat having a split about 5 inches long and front seat having a 1 inch tear on the lower front area not very visible.Headliner is perfect except for a pencil eraser size hole near the back window that could certainly be repaired very easily. All door panels are in great shape as is the dash with the chrome bezels and radio in great shape, radio works great! All gauges work and vinyl floors are in nice shape as is the interior paint. Finding interior trim and parts for these cars is difficult as they don't make reproductions for the wagon models so finding a car with a nice interior is a must and this car doesn't dissapoint. The vinyl covering on the rear fold down area of the cargo area that's usually all curled up or torn is in great shape. All doors open and close great as does the manual rear window ( dont have to worry about the power rear window that's usually broken on these cars as this car has a hand crank ). Front bumper has a couple dings in it but chrome is good, rear bumper is totally straight but should be re chromed. all body mouldings are in great shape (tailgate moulding has 2 dings that could be hammered out) and line up perfectly with the body lines. Left rear quarter panel has some very small rust pinholes and tailgate has some small rust spots and that's all.Right rear passenger lower door is primered and I bought it that way, I did take off the door panel from the inside and did not see any signs of damage from any repairs. Floors, undercarraige and frame rails are all rust free as are the drip rails. Never had a roof rack so no penetrations in roof. grille is in great shape and engine compartment is pretty clean. Car does pull to the right and needs an alignment. Tires are not worn out, but are old and I had one blowout so the original bias ply 6.95 x 14 spare tire is on the left rear of the car,( spare tire looks brand new ), I noticed that some rims don't have any balancing weights on them, neither does the original spare and they create a vibration over 65mph.I haven't installed new tires as they are a subjective purchase that I thought the new buyer would like to make, plus I couldn't decide between original bias ply, wide whites or the classic amercan racing torq thust wheels that look so great on these cars and totally change them from the grocery getter look. Original tire changing equipment is in vehicle spare tire area. Body is very straight with some dings and scrapes that would be expected with a car of this age, car does need to be painted as it has lost it's shine, but starting with a pretty straight car with a nice interior that has all the hard expensive stuff done is the way to go. Car has all 4 original dog dish hub caps in great shape that are very desirable and getting hard to find. Heater and defroster work well as do all the lights and the great sounding high low horn. As mentioned earlier the car the optional borg warner overdrive transmission that works great and makes highway driving that much nicer with the low rpm's. I did do a minor cleaning of the carb but could benefit from a rebuild of the accelerator pump as there is an occasional low speed stumble at take off. Car only has 2 seat belts installed in the front seats. I hate to sell car but have too many vehicles and have to let some go. 1963 was the last year for the finned cars for Ford and are hard to find in original condition. I purchased car from original owner about 18 months ago, car has 96,164 original miles and was little old lady driven and garaged it's whole life. Car is sold as is with no warranty, car is listed locally and I have the right to end auction early, Feel free to call with any questions 805-403-1742
