THIS CAR IS ALSO BEING SOLD AND ADVERTISED IN SEVERAL NEWSPAPERS AND OTHER WEBSITES....I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY!!!! Here'S A GREAT description of the CLK 430 Cabriolet.... The Mercedes-Benz CLK 430 Cabriolet fits right into this world. At a base price of $55,600 for a vehicle that could hardly be considered utilitarian, it would, without much opposition, be considered wholly in the realm of the rich. And, as is usually the case, money buys things that aren't accessible to the have-nots. For while conventional wisdom states that money can't buy happiness, it can cause a shift in perception that could cause illusions of bliss; the Mercedes CLK 430 Cab momentarily suspends the act of driving as a task and transcends it to the level of pure joy. The CLK is a thoroughbred Mercedes in the grandest tradition, with a typically Teutonic suspension that perfectly manages the significant weight of 3,665 pounds, virtually rendering body roll and wallow obsolete. Road surface is conveyed to the driver, but with no harshness. Slicing through tight corners poses no problems, with hefty precise steering. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) gently corrects deviant driving and applies brakes to the appropriate wheel to point you back on your course. The brakes were superbly calibrated and robust, yielding consistent stopping distances of 112 feet during 60-0 deceleration runs, the second best we've tested. Ever. And the engine — oh, the engine. How can we describe the sense of utter contentment to be had when you're behind the wheel of such a beautiful machine? What words can describe the sheer pleasure of hitting 5,750 rpm and reining in the power of 275 horses from the 4.3-liter V8 engine pulsing under the hood? Is there a way to articulate the viscerally pleasing exhaust note, seducing you to rev the engine for pure entertainment value alone? 295 foot-pounds of torque will provide the scintillating knowledge that there is plenty more to be had — even at 100 mph you know that it will easily deliver more speed upon request — launching from a stoplight is rather belabored. The five-speed automatic transmission will upshift promptly. Rear accommodations can be pleasant or unpleasant, depending on the attitude of the passengers. Fun ones will love the wind in their hair and appreciate the level armrest that doubles as storage space. Rid yourself of these detractors by installing the wind blocker. The top took 23 seconds to open, 28.8 seconds to close. The opening mechanism, which requires a push of a button, and performed flawlessly. Once the top is up, the three-layers of material shield you from noise and weather, and the glass rear window with defroster will be appreciated. The wealthy have the privilege of living in gorgeous houses, waking up to breathtaking views and driving cars like the CLK 430. 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK430 Cabriolet Specifications:Model Year:2000Make:Mercedes-BenzModel:CLK430 CabrioletStyle:N/ABase Price:$56,195Price as Tested:$56,800Drive Type:RWDTransmission Type:5ADisplacement (liters):4.3Engine Type:V8Valve Train:SOHC 3 valves per cylinderHorsepower (hp @ rpm):275 @ 5750Torque (lb-feet @ rpm):295 @ 3000Redline (rpm):N/ACurb Weight (lbs):3665Sticker EPA (mpg):17 City 24 HighwayEdmunds Observed (mpg):N/ATest Conditions:Temp (deg Fahrenheit):71Humidity:68%Elevation (ft):85Barometer (bars):29.75Wind:11 mph SW Track Performance: 0 - 60 Acceleration (sec):7.21/4 Mile (sec @ mph):15.5 @ 92.760 - 0 Braking (ft):112200 ft. This Bose system takes full advantage of the unique layout of this vehicle, for the most part nailing component location. The system begins with a pair of six-inch mid-bass drivers located in the lower-front portion of the doors (being a coupe, the vehicle only has two doors). These speakers are mated to a pair of tweeters that occupy two specially-built enclosures, one on each side, located between the A-pillar and the side mirror. They're perfectly aimed and sound amazing. Since there's no back deck in this car (actually there is, but it's occupied by the roof in top-down mode), the Bose engineers have craftily designed a subwoofer into the rear seat. It's located in the lower-center portion of the seat, where the seat back meets the bottom seat cushion. Being a four-seater, there's no seatbelt in the center of the rear seat; instead, a speaker grille ports the subwoofer into the passenger compartment. A very ingenious and classy design from the folks at Bose. Less ingenious are the full-range speakers for the rear passengers, which are built into rear of the doors and which fire directly into the sides of the front seats. Why the audio engineers didn't build these into the rear quarter panels I don't know, but perhaps they have their reasons. The radio faceplate is very user-friendly, including a rubberized volume knob and a large rocker panel for seek, scan and tune. 10 AM and 10 FM presets grace the right side of faceplate, and a six-disc, trunk-mounted CD changer completes the system. Performance: Top Up. Wow. This is one of the finest OEM systems I've ever heard. It's pretty obvious that the Bose engineers had the time and resources to develop a full-blown audiophile setup. Not only is the sound in this hi-fi system lush and velvety, it's loud too. Strings and female vocals are so smooth, producing a sound that is at once subtle and dynamic. Not to be outdone, the bass response is equally awesome, generating lower frequencies which are, as my notes say, "full, rich, tight and wide (a rare combination)." Mids, too, are perfect. Overall, the system has a balance and panache that we rarely find in OEM efforts. It's unusual these days that I find a system I could listen to all day, but, after a good hour of listening, I began to worry that the rest of the staff would wonder where I was hiding if I spent any more time in this vehicle. It's that good. Top Down. Double Wow. Automotive manufacturers generally make two mistakes when designing sound systems for convertibles: Either they don't do anything special in locating speakers to account for the peculiarities of the car's layout, or they provide insufficient amplification to overcome wind and road noise for top-down driving. Mercedes has neatly avoided both pitfalls by locating speakers in great locations and by providing a gutsy power amp to drown out ambient noise. The power amplifier never shows signs of breathing hard, and the speakers perform flawlessly. After recently returning from a 10-car roadster road test, I can tell you that this system sounds better than any two of those systems, combined. Again, it's that good — even with the top down. Conclusion. If you have the money and treasure great audio, you won't find a better OEM system on the market today. And in a convertible, yet! ENOUGH ABOUT HOW GREAT THIS CAR IS....PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY!!!! ALTHOUGH I'M NOT A MECHANIC....I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR IS IN VERY VERY GOOD CONDITION.
