We are the second owner, we purchased this Nissan in excellent condition from a young fireman in Kansas about 5 yrs ago . It has been in North Carolina since. The vehicle was for my son to use while he attended college. The vehicle has very good Michelin tires, a nice in interior, and many significant mechanical repairs making it an excellent low cost choice for a Nissan Xterra without the major overhaul risks. We had the timing belt replaced a couple of years ago, then last year the 5 speed manual started to bind, and eventually we could not get it into first gear. Last Fall, we had a bushing problem in the transmission, creating difficult shifting; we had the transmission pulled and totally rebuilt with Nissan parts. While we were doing the transmission repair, it made sense to get a new clutch installed, as well as replacing all of the drive line and rear fluids. It is as smooth as silk now. The 4x4 works great. The 3.3L V-6 runs very well. While cleaning it up for sale I noticed a noise, which I eventually isolated to the alternator. I have installed a new alternator, the noise is gone and the engine purrs. I also noticed some leaking oil from the engine passenger side; upon discovery the valve cover bolts were extremely loose, barely finger tight; I tightened, the leak appears to be gone. VEHICLE CONDITION Overall the Nissan is in very good condition and the bulk of items that would require major investment are behind you, making this a good viable used vehicle alternative. It can be dressed up a little more to the next level or just used as is to have some fun in .. there were some great trips out in the country and mountains with it. Here is some more info on the Xterra. Cosmetic/Body: Added a new hitch to pull a trailer. Replaced worn out floor mats with new heavy duty rubber mats. Fresh paint on the front bumper/grill and rear bumper. Michelin tires are in very good condition, estimate approx 15k miles on them. There are 2 minor dents in the rear hatchback door that you will see in the photo. Some minor scratches, carpet stains, and nicks that are normal for a vehicle this age; but overall the body is excellent. No seat tears. No known rust on this southern vehicle. Mechanicals: Within the last two years, we have put a fair amount of repairs, our loss your gain ..new front CV joints, water pump, wires and plugs, rebuilt 5 speed transmission, new clutch, new timing belt, new alternator. Electric window door switch was starting to show intermittent connectivity, replaced it last week. Fresh oil change 126,177mi. Everything works.
