Vehicle Detail
1958 CADILLAC Standard Sedan. 61807 Actual Miles. 365 CI, 310 hp V8 with 4 bbl carb and dual exhaust, original 4 spd Hydramatic transmission and non-slip rear differential. Standard Sedan means no AC, has manual windows and vacum wipers. First, a list of the defects: Dent in trunk lid, scratch and small dent in rear bumper, small piece broken out of left tail light housing, dent in rear of L. rear fender where corner of bumper hit it, buckle in left rear fender at front of wheel well, damaged trim on L. rear fender, dent in L. rear fender under trim, damaged trim on rear drivers side door, missing plastic insert from front Cadillac crest, the power radio antenna operates erratically, there are some fine scratches in the windshield and finally, some of the seams in the front seat have come apart. The original carburator caught fire on my sons' prom night. Luckily his date (while wearing her prom dress) helped him put the fire out before any major damage was done. The offending carburator and all damaged hoses and wires were replaced. It now has a new Holley carburator, new fuel pump, new spark plug wires, new ignition wires, and new hoses and vacum lines. The windshield does not have any chips or cracks and an windshield expert told me that the scratches in the windshield were light enough that they could be polished out. And now for the good part. The paint is original with some deterioration and fading into the primer but the white paint on the top still looks great and would only take a little wax to make it look like new. The interior is in great condition, there are no rips or tears anywhere. The only defects are the seams on the front seat. The steering wheel and dashboard do not show the slightest signs of cracking. It still has the original Cadillac front and rear floor mats. The exterior chrome and trim is in excellent condition except for the defects I have listed above. The bias ply whitewall tires have over 2/3rds of the tread left. It has new shocks front and rear. There is no rust anywhere. The original Signal Seeker AM radio still works well. The car was purchased new from McMillan Chevrolet in Canon City, Colorado and has always been in Colorado. The car was given to me by my dad who purchased from the estate of the original owner. It has always been garaged. A body man or restorer will tell you that they would much rather fix dents than have to deal with rust. It runs and drives excellent. The original owners manual is still in the glove compartment and I have a copy of a genuine Cadillac shop manual that will be included in the purchase. I have closeup images of the exterior defects that I would be happy to email to interested buyers. Buyer to arrange shipping. Payment in the form of a Cashiers check is preferred. I will accept a personal check but will require 10 days for check to clear before purchase is completed. Payment arranged within 10 days or the car will be relisted or sold to second chance buyer.
