Vehicle Detail

With much regret we are selling our 1969 classic Chevy Short Wheel Base, Fleet side pickup truck. This rare model truck is widely recognized as one of the most desirable years and body styles of all classic vehicles. The frame and body are all original with matching numbers, including the original protecto sheet inside the glovebox. The frame, body, or bedsides have not been modified, changed from a different truck, or cut down in any way. The vehicle has a clear NV title in our name. We’ve been slowly improving and upgrading the truck while we’ve been driving it daily for a couple years now. Here’s a list of all that we’ve had done: The new replacement engine is a freshly rebuilt 1978 Chevy smallblock. It was line bored, honed, decked, bored and has brand new pistons, rings, bearings, smooth RV grind camshaft, lifters, pushrods, crankshaft, etc. The cylinder heads were also fully rebuilt. It runs very well with lots of power and torque. We’ve put about 5,000 miles on the engine, with zero problems of any kind. The carburetor is a Summit racing rebuilt 1969 4 barrel that is nicely matched to the engine, and has great throttle response. The automatic choke is perfectly adjusted, and the vehicle starts right up in all weather conditions. The fuel pump is new. The ignition system is all new with new plugs, wires and an Electronic distributor (GM HEI) that never needs adjustment. The headers and dual exhaust are also new, and sound great. Overall, this engine is a huge improvement over stock, and the truck runs extremely well. We hope to have some You tube videos of the truck posted soon. They are saved as “1969 Chevy Shortbed, Gardnerville, NV 89460”. The transmission and 12 bolt driveline is mostly stock, with a brand new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, throw out bearing, etc. The clutch is easy to use, and is very smooth, with no chatter. The stock 4 speed shifter is adjusted correctly, and the truck is very fun to drive, and easy to shift. The brakes were gone through completely, and have been adjusted and lubricated, and easily stop the truck from any speed. They do not pull to either side, and work very well. The parking brake is strong and sure. The tires are newer Les Swab “Dean” brand tires 235/ 75/ R15 with good tread. They are mounted on the classic “Smoothie” style wheels. The hub caps could be replaced, but otherwise these tires are very nice, and provide good grip and a great ride. The shocks are good. The truck was also professionally lowered with a high quality ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) 3-5 drop kit. All bolts and springs and suspension ends are new. The truck looks great and handles like it’s on rails. The steering system was completely upgraded with a full power steering system and the pump, belts, pulleys, brackets, tie rods, steering box, center links, drag links, etc are all new and perform flawlessly. This was a huge improvement over the stock manual steering, and the feel is great with effortless turning of the wheel at all speeds. We also added a Grant GT steering wheel with the proper installation kits. The horn and turn signal levers still work great. The interior is mostly original but we added a newer seat from an early 90’s Chevy truck. The cloth split bench seat is very comfortable and in perfect shape, and was installed with the correct grade 8 bolts and washers. We also added an Auto Meter tachometer and oil pressure and water temperature gauges. The lights and gauges all work perfectly. The heater was disconnected at the engine, but the heater box, levers, switches and heater core were in good working condition and just need the hoses and fan re- attached. The glass is great, as we put in a brand new tinted windshield and had the side and rear windows professionally tinted. The window beads and seals are original, and not replaced. The cooling system is restored with a new 3 core radiator, water pump, thermostat, upper and lower hoses, and a heavy duty fan clutch with the stock fan and shroud that is perfectly matched in the correct location. The truck operates perfectly in all weather and traffic conditions. It starts right up every single time, and never overheats, hesitates, or stalls out. The upgraded alternator and battery was also replaced with a heavy duty model with the correct heavy duty new battery cables. Lastly the body and paint are in just fair condition. Most of the truck has scratches and minor dents and dings. The original Chevy grille is very nice however. It has all the original body steel and panels, and there is rust present on the rockers and cab corners, and some on the bottom of the doors and front fenders too. We made no attempt to cover up any of the body flaws, and we think the truck still looks pretty good as it is. We removed the carpet so the new buyer can see the original floors are solid. We were going to eventually have this repaired and have the truck re-painted, but decided to let the new owners pick the paint colors and decide if they want to repair this with new panels or leave it for a later date. The truck is still very solid elsewhere, and this is a pretty easy and very common fix for ANY body shop. Well, that about explains everything we can think of, and we’re hoping the truck makes it to a good home. We think this would make a perfect truck for a teenager or young adult as a daily driver, or a father- son/ daughter project to finish up the body and paint, or maybe a weekend fun car for cruising around, towing the boat or RV, or heading to the dumps, etc. We tried to list every item both good and bad that exist on the truck, and strongly feel that this is a very good truck that just needs some body work and paint to be excellent. We did work hard to make sure the truck is very reliable and had our (and the future buyer’s) safety in mind in everything we had done. That being said, the truck is 43 years old, and has the typical squeaks, rattles, wind noise and such that are unavoidable in any vehicle this age. But still, I would not hesitate for an instant to jump in and drive this classic shortbed to anywhere in the US without even lifting the hood. This truck is a driver, and could be driven home easily. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. My phone number is 916-257-3450. A deposit of $500 is due from buyer at auction close.
