Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1985 Austin Mini. I had to list this as a 1980 because eBay doesn't recognize the British VIN. This was going to be a project vehicle for me but plans have changed. I'm moving to Germany and need to sell the car. I bought the car in May 2009 while living in England and when I moved back the the US I brought it with me. This is a British spec right hand drive vehicle. All the import paperwork has been completed and it has a clean and clear Washington state title. I've done a lot of work to it but it does need a bit more work. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is advertised locally. Here is what has been done so far. - 998cc Engine Rebuilt by Morspeed UK (done at 32715 miles) - Block Bored .040"/Shaved .015" - Lightened and Balanced Crank - Stage 2 Cam - Balanced Flat Top Pistons - Balanced Connecting Rods - Lightened and Balanced Flywheel - Performance Clutch - Larger Valves with Steel Guides (32mm intake/26mm exhaust) - 180lb Valve Springs - Combustion Chambers Enlarged to 25cc - Rebuilt 4 Speed - Stage 1 Intake and Exhaust Kit - HIF38 Carburetor w ABY Needle - Megajolt Distributorless Ignition System - Specialist Components Crank Position Sensor Kit and Trigger Wheel - Electric Fuel Pump - Fuel and Ignition Dyno Tuned by The Pitstop UK (done at 33255 miles) - New Starter - New Aluminum Water Pump w/ bypass block off - New Motor Mounts - New Ultralite 7x13 Wheels Black/Polished with Yokohama A539 175/50-13 (done at 34427) - New Front and Rear Camber Kit - New Solid Front Subframe Mounts - New Mountney Steering Wheel - New Side Rear Window Rubbers - New Door Window Molding and Wiper (both sides) - New Door Surround Seals - New Heater Core - New Throttle, Choke, and Heater Control Cables List of stuff that comes with the car. - 1978 Mini converted to trailer (body work done, primered and needs paint, tail lights/wiring, shocks, cover) - 2 New Ultralite 7x13 Wheels Black/Polished with Yokohama A539 175/50-13 (for trailer, still have stickers on them) - Tow Hitch (British Spec) - New Cobra Racing Bucket Seats with Brackets - OEM Dash with Gauges (from the 1978 Mini that is now a trailer) - New Custom Aftermarket Dash (Black/Blue) - New Complete Carpet Kit (Black/Blue) - New Custom Door Panels (Black/Blue) - New Interior Door Hardware Kit (window crank, door pull, etc) - New Silcone Radiator and Heater Hose kit (Blue) - New Chrome Trunk Hinges - New Wiper Hole Plugs (Chrome) - New Fender Flares w/ molding - New Custom Door Tread Plates (Chrome/Blue) - New Fuse Panels (blade type to replace glass type fuse panel) - New Outer Door Handle Scoops (Chrome) - New Radio Antenna - Rear Window with Defroster - New Rear Window Rubber and Locking Strip - New Chrome Roof Trim - New Front Indicators - New Chrome Door Mirrors - Trailer Hitch - New Front and Rear Bumpers - 2 Rolls Sound Deadener Mat (dynamat) - Old Distributor and Coil - Spare HIF38 Carburetor - Two Spare HS4 Carburetors - Old Mechanical Fuel Pump What it still needs in my opinion. Prices are from Minispares. - Right side A panel (small rust spot near top) $31.51 - Both Door Skins (starting to show signs of rust along bottom edge) $164.12 - Front Right Floor Pan (a bit of rust at front edge) $17.72 - Front Body Panel (couple of cracks around headlights and a bit of rust on bottom edge) $177.22 - Side Rear Windows (sanding scratches from previous owner) - Headlining Kit (previous owner spray painted it) $111.74 - Remove Fiberglass Fender Flares (fiberglassed into body and is cracking in places) new ones come with car - Aluminum Radiator (temp creeps up a bit on long runs on a hot day but not too bad) - Heater Hose Elbows (the hoses to the heater core make a 180* bend which kinks the hose blocking flow through the heater core) - Repainted Of course if someone were to make this a show car it would need more trim pieces and such to make everything look new. Just a bit of gee whiz information about the car. The car comes with the original British license plates (the rear plate is still on the car) and it last British tax disc still in the holder mounted to the windshield. The car was also in the 2010 London to Brighton run celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mini, the 2009 IMM (International Mini Meet) with the registration plate, the 2009 Cannon Hill Park show, and the 2009 Castle Combe show with registration tag. I have some receipts for the new parts as well as the engine build spec sheet and the dyno sheets from when it was tuned. It is putting out 42bhp. This vehicle is being sold AS-IS with no option for a return. All sales are final. I'm moving to Germany and I can't take the car with me. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. Payment is due within 7 days and will be in the form of cash, money order/cashiers check, or Visa/MC (2% transaction fee applies to credit card payments). A $500 deposit is due within 48hrs from the end of the auction.
