Vehicle Detail

1949 Cadillac series 62 Fleetwood convertible. One owner since 1968. Driven for about two and a half years during college and stored since 1970 - 71. Car is complete with all mechanical parts and instruments working at time it was stored and all trim, medallions, and controls. Hydraulic power windows, seat, and top all worked. Vacuum power radio antenna was not on car when purchased but the radio has the control valve for it built into the volume knob. Body is straight with no collision damage and only one area of rust through in right side front of hood where a mouse nest was built inside (see picture). Trim is all there, most needs re-chroming, local rust penetration on rear fender spears and shield behind right front wheel well. Trunk floor has local rust-through at center rear. The radiator is not damaged and the 3 heater cores (one in the firewall and two under the front seat) did not leak. Car has (5) aluminum sabre wheels from '55 model plus original sombreros. Original bumper jack and black wooden wedge wheel chock. Original paint was white with black top. Sometime before 1968 it was repainted to black and a white top installed. Vinyl seat covers were installed over the original leather and the remains of both are still with the car. The black re-paint job is cracking and peeling away back to the original white or alternately to the red primer over it (see close-up of hood from left side). Overall a solid intact, complete candidate for restoration. $1000.00 deposit within two days of close, full payment within 1 week. Will help load for shipping. On Sep-26-11 at 13:21:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Added 26 Sept. 2 PM I was informed by an ebay member that this car is a series 62 as described, but not a Fleetwood (which would be a series 60). I was going by the label plate on the interior for that part of the description. Sorry for any confusion. See "Q & A" section below pictures. On Sep-27-11 at 16:23:47 PDT, seller added the following information: This came up as a result of a question I was asked by a prospective bidder. The engine block currently installed in the car is from a 1952 with the 1949 accessories. Same size (331) and spec. as the original which had a loose rod bearing. I still have the original matching number 1949 block and will be glad to send it on a pallet with the car. I also have two extra transmissions and two pairs of heads which would be available.
