Vehicle Detail
This car was originally purchased Aug. 1961 at Don Campbell Chevrolet in Antioch, CA. Due to bad health, the original owner garaged this car in 1976 with 61,110 original miles at their home in Moraga, CA. I purchased the car Dec. 21, 2003. The car did not run, but only needed a new ignition switch, so I replaced it with a NOS switch and towed it to my home in Daly City, CA. I totally dismantled the car, as well as all parts, accessories, etc. were accessed for cleaning, repair, or replacement with NOS items if needed. There has never been any rust anywhere on this car. Off to the body shop for paint. I am a 40 year member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. I have used this painter on all my classic cars I have restored, which is 7(all Chevrolets & Corvettes) EXTERIOR: Paint is roman red with ermine white insert, all chrome has been replated by Superior Chrome in San Jose, CA, all aluminum side moldings and grill area have been repaired and re-anodized like new, all emblems are NOS, windshield needed to be replaced, all other glass was perfect, all rubber gaskets were very good to perfect condition. INTERIOR: All new wires under dash by American Auto Wire, Bellmaur, NJ, red and white interior carpet, door panels, quarter panels, kick panels, package tray, headliner, and all seats are new. Steering column and wheel were taken apart and repainted, all gauges and clock were rebuilt by Palo Alto Speedometer, Inc., radio speaker reconditioned by Jackson Speaker Service in Jackson, MI, radio rebuilt by Vintage Radio Restoration, Pismo Beach, CA, dual antennas replaced NOS from Dennie Turner, Bellview, FL, complete interior painted roman red. All interior is now in perfect working condition and looks like new. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: 283 CI engine rebuilt by Nick Recino's performance engines of San Francisco, cylinders and pistons are 20 over, water pump, fuel pump rebuilt by Arthur Gould Rebuilders of Kings Park, NY, carburetor rebuilt by Ole's in San Bruno, CA, radiator and heater core re-cored by Daly City Radiator, starter and generator rebuilt by Generator Distributor of San Francisco, windshield wiper motor rebuilt by Midwest Bedford Park, IL, steering box rebuilt by Straight Line Steering of San Jose, CA, transmission is a 3 speed on the column with overdrive, which was completely rebuilt by Ron's Transmissions of Daly City, CA. Rear end and rear axles were refurbished by me, brakes and cylinders, hoses, and shoes are all new, all drums were turned for the first time. Drive shaft balanced by Franks Driveshafts in San Francisco and all u-joints replaced. Front end and underneath of car detailed by me and painted to specs, air cleaner sandblasted, powder coated and instead of a decal on the snorkel, I had it silkscreened as on the original. Original hubcaps are perfect, new steel belted radial whitewall tires. As you can see, a great deal of time and effort went into this car. You will not be disappointed. The car was completed in June 2010. Since its restoration I have put 1500 miles on the car. A good break in period. Everything works and runs excellent. I entered this car into its first classic car show on August 14, 2010. The event had some 400 cars entered of all makes, models, and years. My class was 58-72, which had 252 entrants to be judged and this car was given the top award "Most Outstanding Vehicle 1958-1972". I was so impressed with how well the car showed. I consider this car to be between #1 and #2 condition. Please feel free to call me at 650-219-5878 with any additional questions, thanks. John
