Vehicle Detail

1983 Honda CX650T. I’ve owned since 1985. Never crashed, but has fallen on its’ side in the driveway. The lower fairing around the turbo exhaust is cracked and scratched. Other scratches on the fairing. Tried to show all the flaws in the photos. An original Honda repair manual will go with the bike. No reserve. 33091 miles on the bike right now. I ride it so count on there being an additional 100 to 200 miles on the machine when it's sold. Mechanically, this is what has occurred over the years: a) Twice a year changed oil and new oil filter and cleaned air filter. b) Once every 3 years new brake fluid and final drive fluid. Motul is in it now. c) 2K miles. Replaced the design flawed CX650T starter with a CX500T starter. Replaced exhaust with CX500T unit which was supposed to breath a bit better and up performance a bit, as well as being smaller and lighter. Never noticed a difference. d) 18K miles. New aftermarket stator (at same time the ‘little yellow connector’ was removed and the wires soldered), new clutch pressure plates. Swingarm bearings cleaned and lubed. e) 24K miles. During routine maintenance, noticed one broken bolt that holds the turbo halves together. I couldn’t risk screwing up the turbo unit trying to get the broken bolt out, so I sent to some Utah turbo rebuilders for new bearings and rebuild. I can get their name if it’s important to you (and in fact I should have the invoice along with all the other invoices for stuff I’ve purchased for this bike through the years). Pressure and return oil lines replaced at the time. Water pump mechanical seal and pulse generators (2) replaced when corrosion noticed. Weep hole 1/16” is drilled into the bottom of the pulse generator housing – if you ever see coolant sitting on top of the engine rear: STOP, replace the mechanical water pump seal immediately. f) 29K miles. Front and rear brake calipers rebuilt, new pistons and seals. New front and rear wheel bearings. New grips. g) Last week installed new left and right front turn signal lenses (the old ones were cracked from the bike falling over in the driveway, yes, pretty embarrassing). New spark plugs. h) Too many front and rear tires to count. Currently Metzeler on front and Avon on back. Probably a dozen batteries over the 26 years that I’ve owned the bike. Comes with one original key, but has cracked plastic on the top of the key. The bike idles like a kitten purring (it helps the fuel injectors to run some StaBil through it once in a while). Same turbo kick when the boost hits, still picks up the front wheel in first and second. I ride it several times a week in summer, never in winter. Always garaged, never ridden in rain. Most of the polished aluminum clear coated OEM parts are fading with the clearcoat paint oxidizing and looking less than great. All possible to be returned to new, just lots of elbow grease sanding and polishing aluminum. The exhaust mufflers "TURBO" insignia looks poor because the black paint is lifting off the polished surface (this looks like one of the easier strip/paint/polish fixes to me). The ‘buy it now’ price of $5000.00 USD includes all the spares that I have (NOS stuff like a full set of exhaust gaskets, brake parts, grips, air filter, and I believe a full set of rear shock rebuild parts. Contact me if this determines your buying decision and I’ll catalog the stuff). Sold as is, where is. No warranty given or implied. All sales final. $500.00 deposit due by PayPal within 24 hours of auction end. Full remaining payment by cash or certified check due within 5 days. Once funds clear my bank, bike and title will be released. Questions? Installed new EBC pads front and rear.
