New ball joints, steering shock, and new steering box. Factory Z-bar. Rancho Performance rebuilt swing-axle transmission with stock gear ratios. New trans mount and motor mounts. Stock single-port engine with new Solex dual 34mm carb kit with electric chokes. This Beetle is a superb, show-worthy, daily driver. Rides and drives great and has no problem keeping up with traffic. I bought the car in April or May of 2010. I took it to the body shop in August of 2010. The doors, finders, hood, deck lid, front and back glass, all window glass, sunroof, all lights, door handles, trim, bumpers, bumper mounts, dash and dash pad, all interior – seats, seta brackets, door panels, glove box lid, gas door, motor, transmission, all rubber seals, and something else I probably forgot were removed before the car went into the body shop for repair, prep and paint. Minimal rust was repaired on the driver side door post below the bottom hinge. Minimal rust was repaired in the back of the rear floor pans. The interior floor area was also painted with rust encapsolator paint. All areas under the carpet and behind the rear panels and door panels were lined with sound deadening material. The motor was rebuilt before I bought the car. Compression test on all four cylinders checked out good. Alabama does not title vehicles this old. I have the current tag receipt. Alabama doe not have an inspection law. All mechanic work done on this car since I bought it has been by a certified Mercedes-Benz mechanic who grew up doing all VW mechanic work in his father’s VW repair shop.
