Vehicle Detail
This is a 1952 Chrysler Saratoga 4dr Sedan. Mileage is what is on the speedometer. It has been in covered storage for the past 5 years or so but has started to develop spots of rust on the exterior There are no dents or damage other than the very few rust areas identified in the photos. There does not appear to be any previous body repairs except for possibly a complete left front fender years back because it has a New Yorker emblem on that side. The car was repainted at one point. All the doors have good hinges and open/close correctly except for a little stiffness from not being opened all these years. All body trim is still there but is chrome pieces pitted and lacks the original chrome luster. Most of the side pieces are stainless and will probably polish up nicely. The interior will need a complete restoration.. The floorboards show no significant rust except for basic surface rust. There is one very tiny pinhole area on the driver's front side that may either be the beginning of rust or just a puncture through the metal. The floors appear to be very solid. There is an additional set of original beige/tan seats (not pictured but I can supply one) in very good condition that will go with the car. There are no broken windows, all are intact and crank mechanisms are very operational. The trunk has no rust through that I can find. It has an original coat of undercoating that is peeling, leaving the appearance of rust in the unprotected areas. I've rapped on the floorboards and trunk with a hammer and could not find any soft or deteriorating spots. The motor is a 331 Hemi V-8. It appears to be complete minus the air cleaner and battery (carb has been stuffed with a rag to prevent moisture entering). The motor did run when it was parked 5 years ago. The original owner (believed to be the only owner) used it as an every day vehicle. It will turn over by turning the fan and still has compression. The wiring is the cloth insulation and has decayed to the point where it will not start for fear of shorts. The brakes are non-operational but the car will roll fairly easily. The transmission is a Fluid-Matic and was supposed to work correctly but has not been tested. I was going to restore the car but it's fallen down on my priority list of vehicles. I noticed the rust developing and have decided to sell before the car develops any more damage. I've been offered $1500 just for the motor and tranny but choose to sell the car complete. I'm a firm believer in "Restore - Don't Crush 'em". This car is in excellent restorable condition; just needs with a little time, money and a lot of loving care. I hate to lose it but I've got more projects then I have either time or money to complete. Don't let this car become an ebay parts car!! I am willing to transport the vehicle within 500 miles from Grants Pass Oregon for fuel costs only. My truck will average about 10-12 miles per gallon hauling the car on my trailer. With gas prices the way they are, I'd probably calculate it at about $4 per gallon but I'll provide one way receipts for the gas and we'll just double it for my return trip home. I want to make this as easy as possible for the purchaser. If you've got any questions or want more pictures, please feel free to email me.
