Vehicle Detail
This is a 1984 Ford Mustang SVO. You Mustang people know what we are talking about. It is a limited production model with a 4 cyl. and a Turbo. I want to tell you as much about this car as I can to making your bidding easy. An elderly gentleman asked me to sell this car for him. It belonged to a family member who died of an unexpected illness several years ago. It has been inside a machine shed since 1994. It has been started and moved in and out of the shed several times over the years. This is truly a "barn find". Let me tell you what I know that the car will need. The headliner is good and intact. It is not attached to the roof and billows down. It needs to be reglued. The windshield is cracked but not in the field of view. The car does not put out cold air, but the compressor works and there is no noise or squeals. The tires are weather checked and I would not drive far on them. They are at least 18 years old. The muffler is loud. The front right signal lens is cracked but not broken. I am told that the car was involved in an accident and the front driver side fender was replaced. I believe the entire car was repainted at this time. The front bumper cover was damaged and might have been replaced. I am not sure on this. The car has an unused donut spare tire. The top of the car, hood and rear deck are covered with tree sap. I was able to remove small areas of the sap with a solvent but stopped because I did not want to ruin the finish below. It will require elbow grease. The two cylinders that raise the hatchback do not work and will not hold the back open Now the good news. I drove this car for about 2 miles. Power steering, brakes, fans, electric windows, lights all work. The interior is good and not worn. There is a small vacant mouse nest in the heater. (Just so you know.) The best part is that the transmission is fine and all five gears are smooth. Reverse is good. When I drove it down the road and got into second gear I noticed the boost gauge coming off zero. As I accelerated, the turbo kicked in and I was off like a shot. The back end started spinning around and I got to experience one hot little car. The more I drove it, the more I wanted to buy it. The owner said that he remembers the car "walking through 3rd gear when the boost kicked in" He told me that it felt like the clutch may have been slipping a bit and it might need adjustment or replacement. It sounds like the car could not handle all that power. I did not experience that during the short time I drove it. There is no blue smoke out the noisy exhaust and no oil spills on the floor. There is an additional 5th rim. One has a minor dent in it and the owner had a chance to pick up another at a sale. The car is offered with a low, no reserve price. The owner simply wants to sell the car and not go through all of the work of cleaning it up. I'm sure he would get a great deal more if he did. I have been honest with the description of the car. I will work with you on the transportation of the car. Again, I would not drive it very far or very fast with the tires now on the car.
