Vehicle Detail
I have a 1971 Pontiac GTO. This was the last year they made a real GTO. From the factory, this car came with a 400 cid with 300 horsepower. It is hardtop with a landau roof. It was my brother’s car when he was in high school it and has remained at parents’ farm for 20 years. When they moved, he finally gave it to me. It is in need of restoration. Before he parked it, he blew the cam in the original engine. I still have the block from the original engine. The 400 that is in the car came from a ’69 Bonneville. In addition to the original block, I still have other parts of the original engine. A minor accident messed up the passenger side light assembly and the lower air valance. The enduro bumper is fine. I also bought a new light assembly and lower air valance for it. They were not easy to find and are not cheap. Otherwise, the body is sound (other than scratches from years of neglect). There is a little rust on the driver's side floor board and a hole about the size of a fingernail between the back window and the trunk lid. Currently, the front of the car is disassembled. We only pulled the bumper, air valance, the radiator and the like to pull the motor; the motor is also pulled out. I gutted the inside: pulled out the carpet, the head cloth, and the seats. I then vacuumed the entire interior. The seats are still intact. All the original parts are still there, with the exception of the broken light assembly. The hood may need to be replaced. Someone nearly wrecked the hood at the auction. I still have the hood and initially I thought it would not be usable but have been told differently by two different auto body repairmen who have seen it. It is needs to be replaced, I have seen them on ebay for around $300 or $400. I also have all five of the honeycomb rims for it. It is in storage at a shop outside of Greeley, Colorado. Obviously, it will have to be trailered. I would just throw in the engine stand so the motor would not have to be removed. Basically, I just don’t have the time or money to fix it up. It has been waiting long enough and someone needs to put the beast back together. The title is clean. The final auction price includes the working motor, the original block and parts, the engine stand, the two replacement pieces for the front end and the rest of the car. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Thanks for looking and please share this with any Pontiac collectors you may know. At the end of the auction, I need $500 in my Paypal account within 24 hours of the sale. The rest is do at the time the buyer picks up the GTO. The rest needs to be a Postal Money Order or a banks cashier check. Buyer is responsible for pickup and transport. I will help get the shop lined up for pickup of the GTO. On Aug-01-11 at 16:02:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Like I said, I have the original block and some parts from the original motor. Other than that, the only thing that I don't have is the original radio. I also have an original set of keys. Just wanted to let you know.
