Vehicle Detail
For your pleasure today is my sweet, cherry red 1997 Ford Escort LX 4 Door Sedan. This little car has been good to me for the last five years and I hate to sell it - but I am now sharing my vehicle with a new teen-aged driver and I am going to go more to a mid-size vehicle so she doesn't start driving like a sports car driver with this sweet car. I purchased the vehicle used from a dealer in 2006 and it had about 110,000 miles on it then. In five years I have put a bit over 50,000 miles on it.The car has power door locks, power windows and power adjustment for the two outside mirrors. Seats are manually adjustable. Front seats have had cloth seat covers since I got the car (I will leave them on). The upholstery on all seats is in good condition. I also purchased floor mats for both the front and back carpet areas when I got the car. The back ones tend to slip and so the carpet is dirtier back there. Both front doors have map pockets. The back of the front bucket seats also have pockets (although we never used them because I put the seat covers on). The radio works fine and plays loud. It also has a cassette player. A Digital clock is located within the radio display. The only thing that does not work inside the car is the cigarette lighter - but that never mattered to me since we are a smoke-free family. Car is basically very clean inside. On the outside - Tires are virtually brand new - two being purchased October 2010 and the other two purchased February 2011 (receipts in the glove compartment). The trunk is clean, large and spacious. The back seats fold down to give you more space from the trunk. Generally, the paint is in good condition. There is a dent in the back, driver's side quarter panel. I don't know where it came from - I believe most likely from someone pushing on the side of the car. There is another dent on the front, passenger side quarter panel. This one appears to be more of a parking lot issue. No paint is chipped or damaged in either dent - they are just dents within the areas. I have included photos of both dents. There is one rust spot on the hood - solid, not "cancerous". I have included a photo of that as well. Because of the age of the vehicle - there are minor scrapes and scratches from shopping carts, trees, bushes, etc - but they are almost all superfluous. All glass is intact and fine. This car is a 4 cylinder and has been AWESOME on gas mileage. I have averaged 20-25 miles in the city (winter gas additives made the mileage go down) and close to 30 on the highway. This has been a real blessing with the current gas prices. The gas tank is listed as 12.3 gallons - but I believe it is a little bit larger. Several years ago, someone did back into the driver's side door - that was repaired at a local body shop. Two years ago, a new, young driver slipped on the ice and rear-ended me - cracking the back bumper. That was replaced/repaired as well. Both minor incidents were handled privately and completely to my satisfaction. This is a USED vehicle and while it does run - I am selling it "for parts/repair" - Strictly - AS IS. I did drive it up until this morning (8/29) and had no problem - but I will not guarantee it in any way - nor will I guarantee that it will pass inspection. Mechanically - it needs a bit of work Without doing a detailed check on it - my mechanic says it needs either a water pump or a timing belt (he only took a quick look/listen). The on board computer may also need to be rebooted. It has had regular service (oil change, plugs, etc) all along and has served me well. With a little more TLC it will serve someone else just as well for more years to come. I have made every effort to be as clear, concise and honest about this vehicle as possible. If you have any questions - ask.Kelly Blue Book value on a car like this (considered in Fair condition) is about $1600. The winning bidder will provide a down payment of $500 via PayPal within 48 hours of the auction close unless other arrangements are made prior to that time. Full payment will be due within 7 days of the close of the auction. Final payment may be made in cash (preferable) or cashier's check. Local pick-up is preferred - buyer is responsible for taking the vehicle once payment is made.
