Vehicle Detail
Rock Bottom Price: This car had an incredible number of watchers on the last auction, but obviously no bidders... I'd like to move it. So, I've decided to drop the price. The drop in price should go a long way toward allowing the buyer to take care of the little issues that the car has (described below as "the bad"). If you've got new questions, feel free to ask. History: 1990 ZR-1 with 67,XXX miles. If you’re seriously looking at the car, then you probably already know all of the ZR-1/LT5 history. All that great stuff you’ve read about ZR-1's is really true, it’s a great car. I’ve owned this particular car for about 4 ½ years. The original interior color was saddle, but I swapped out the original seats for a pair of black sport seats from a ’95 corvette. These are much more comfortable than the original seats. When I changed the seats, I also changed the rest of the interior to black. Included in this sale are the original saddle seats, door panels, and seatbelts. If you are seriously interested in the car, I would suggest that you try to come take a look in person. Condition (The Good): New PCV vlavles and hoses ~6 months ago Accell injectors ~2.5 years ago. Accell coils ~1 year ago. Spark plugs ~1 year ago. Plug wires ~3 months ago. Master cylinder ~4 months ago. Fluidyne Aluminum Radiator (some material was removed from the radiator shroud for easy access) Specialized Racing Products heavy duty thermostat Sumitomo tires with less than 3,000 miles. K & N airfilter Sport seats are very comfortable! 2 Chips: one from DRM and one from Jim VanDorn (Jim’s chip is fantastic, the gas mileage doesn’t seem quite as good as the DRM chip but the car feels like it picks up 20 or 30 hp with the JVD chip; It pulls hard all the way to 7,200 RPM). Condition (The Bad): The clip that holds on the connector for the oil pressure sensor is broken and sometimes it becomes disconnected. I’m sure a new one could be bought for less than $50, but I always just stick it back in when it jumps out. The car has a very slow vacuum leak in the secondary system (secondary vacuum pump runs every ~20 seconds). It does not affect operation of the secondary injector system. As is generally the case with LT5’s with any mileage on them, the finish on the engine isn’t perfect. The headlight cover (under side that you only see when the headlights are on) needs to be repainted; it has a couple of big chips. I would guess that would cost <$100. The CD player works sometimes and sometimes it does not (who cares anyway…the music comes from the LT5). One of the amplifiers squeals after the radio has been on for awhile.Seat belt light stays on. There are a couple of small chips in the paint (see photos; more can be sent if needed). Additional Information: I do have some records from the previous owners (a log book). I can't verify that what is in the log is true, but here are some highlights (major replacement items): 37,595 miles: new automatic antenna system 38,697 miles: new fuel filter 41,233 miles: new brake pads 42,361 miles: new clutch on a/c compressor 43,225 miles: pressure plate, clutch plate, and throw out bearing replaced 44,440: new clutch slave cylinder 46,360 miles: new lower engine cooling fan When I bought this car it had 48,XXX miles. My minimum bid is far below what I paid for the car, but I don’t feel that I’m loosing money. The car has been an absolute blast and the fun I’ve had is worth every penny that I’ll “loose”! However, I’m ready to move on to something different. I’ve tried to fully describe the condition of the car. I also hope that the pictures help tell the story. However, the car is being sold “as is” and it is the buyers responsibility to inspect the car. All bids will be considered final and binding. Bid to buy! I’ll be happy to send additional pictures as needed and to answer questions from seriously interested bidders. Remember before bidding: This ZR-1 is a 21 year old car with 67,XXX miles…it doesn’t look quite new inside or out. It’s not a show car and will probably never be. If you’re looking for a show car, there are many very low mile C4 ZR-1s on ebay. I enjoyed it as a driver car and hope to find a buyer that will do the same. Buy it at the low prices in today’s economy, drive the heck out of it like it was meant to be driven, and have a blast. Oh, and own a piece of corvette history while you are at it… Terms: This is a “cash” only sale. The car is sold As-is. Bidding is only open to U.S. bidders (if you're not a U.S. bidder, don't bid...). They buyer agrees to pay a non-refundable $100 fee via PayPal immediately upon the end of the auction. Only this may be paid with PayPal. I expect the buyer to come pick up the car within 7 days and to pay with cash (not certified or personal checks…only cash) at pickup. Pickup is not inspection time. If you bid and win, you bought the car. If you want to inspect the car, come do it before you bid. My schedule is somewhat flexible. If you need permission from your wife/husband/whoever… get it before bidding. If you bid and win, you bought the car (yes, I know I already wrote that…I’ve been around ebay for a long time…). If you don’t agree with these terms, can’t abide by the terms, or just don’t really like the terms…then DON’T bid. Finally, if you have questions, do feel free to ask. I like talking cars and will be very happy to answer your questions.
