Vehicle Detail

1956 Chevy Suburban Carryall with 265-V8 and NAPCO 4-WD Upon first seeing this magnificent vehicle at arm’s length, you are struck by both its ‘art-deco’ elegance and its raw strength. One has to wonder what magical steel this machine was made of while you marvel at its nearly flawless body, reflecting its admirers and their awe. This Model 3116 Suburban Carryall sports a horizontal tail-and lift-gate at one end of its 114 inch wheelbase, and Chevrolet’s optional ‘ultra-modern,’ short stroke, 265 cu. in. V-8 at the other end. This gentle giant of a truck stands over 7 feet tall, has a GVW of 5,000 lbs, and is capable of carrying up to 1,200 lbs of cargo. But wait, there’s more. In 1956, the dealer installed the original NAPCO Industries 4-WD ‘PowerPak,’ which was not available as a factory option until 1957 and, then, only on the standard-equipped 6-cyl. models. Combined with a 4-spd floor-mounted stick, including ‘Granny Gear’ (1st), this ‘cat’ can pull out of anything-and pull just about anything. Take a few moments to let the interior of this rare, vintage truck further amaze you. The steering wheel, dash, gauges, controls, and 4-WD operating decals look new. Driver enjoys a double bench seat, and a single, front-folding passenger seat allows easy access to a second bench for three. An optional third bench seat is not included. By now you’re wondering if what’s under the hood can possibly match what you’ve already seen. Indeed, it does! So does the underneath. Wear your ‘white gloves’. Oh, and this vehicle starts and runs commensurate with its looks. Perfect. Explore further details in the original New 1956 Chevrolet Task-Force Panel Trucks brochure, the 1956 Chevrolet Truck Operators Manual, and the NAPCO Shop Manual, all included. The PTO-take-off is also included but not installed. This near-flawless 1956 Suburban Carryall wears its original ’56 Chevy colors on a 2010 repaint that was applied against bare metal. Absolutely no rust, no filler, flaws, scars, or stories…just one, big, happy truck leading its perfect life. Come into its breathtaking world. Live life 56 years ago.
