A couple months ago we were driving through the northern suburbs of Chicago when my girlfriend forced me to stop at an estate sale we passed. With great reluctance I turned the car around and went. Let's just say she went home empty handed and I didn't!!!! I saw this car sitting in the garage and asked the young gentleman the story behind the sale and the car. He informed me that it was his grandparents’ house and they had recently moved into a retirement home and everything must go along with the car. He said that his grandfather bought the Mercury Cougar RX7 Brand New July of 1977 a couple miles down the road and really only drove it on the weekends. He said the miles are 100% original and trust me you can tell they are. As a kid he had only driven in the car a handful of times and only seen is grandfather drive it now and then. When I got in the car I got more and more excited. The interior is LIKE BRAND NEW. There isn't a mark, scratch, stain, or anything on the upholstery or carpets. They are flawless. They were a little dusty but cleaned right up. This car has been sitting in a heated garage it's intire life! After putting in a new battery we fired the engine up and she turned right over and sounded like a dream. After getting the car back to my shop we drained the gas and replaced it with fresh fuel, we rebuilt the carb, and replaced a handful of hoses that were showing a little wear. She now runs even better!!!! This is a piece of history!!!! You will never find another in this condition with all the original documents! It truly runs and drives perfect and everything works on it including the A/C. The only thing I cannot guarantee is the 8 track player....I'm fresh out of 8 track tapes!!!!
