Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Here is my 1970 AMX. I am the 3rd owner. The original owner had it for 36 years. The 2nd owner had it for 3 years and I have had it for 2 ½ years. The 2nd owner had it completely restored with a total investment or over 38,000. He went bumper to bumper, engine, transmission, stripped to bare metal etc… I have his receipts and some pictures. I also have all the original receipts and the original owners warranty card, manual and papers. It is the Original 390 cu in 325 hp Go Package. The original T 10 Borg Warner 4 speed close ratio “V” series transmission. That is the most rare/sought after according to Eddie Stakes Web Site because of the close ratio. It is an original Commodore Blue with the white C strip. It has the machine wheels which the 2nd owner had bought and installed. They are in excellent shape. It is an original Blue/ Blue Car. I believe only 263 had the blue interiors according to specks. It has power steering, power brakes, Ram air that is functional and all the gauges work. When I bought it the tach didn’t work so I purchased another set of gauges and installed them. They are from a 69 with the only difference being the silver face plate verses the black face plate. I still have the black face plate which could be switched. I personally like the silver. It also has a center arm rest which I took out but belongs to the car. Tires are Goodyear Polyglass F-70 15’s. The original am-fm radio works. I’m sure I have missed something so if you are interested, I’m sure you will call or email me. Anyways, I have decided that instead of letting it sit locked in my garage with my other toys, I would offer it to the one who is looking for this car. For me, it had to be a 1970 Commodore Blue 390 4 speed as that is what I had 30 plus years ago as a youngster. There are 4 things I want to mention so nothing is hidden. #1.The original owner had the dealership where he bought the car install 2 guages to the left of the steering column, oil press and amps. You can see them in the picture. I removed them and still have them and the bracket so they can be reinstalled if desired, but there is a small hole where the wires came thru. #2. Somewhere along it’s almost 42 years of life, the owner put a cassette player in the glove box which is completely hidden. If you removed it, you would probably want to put in a new cardboard liner to cover the cutout. #3. The back of the driver’s seat the plastic piece has a crack. #4. On the back of the car looking straight at it, it seems to have a little more of a gap in the middle between the trunk lid and the taillight assembly that runs across. Truck lid is Straight, looks like the taillight assembly is lower in the middle. Not real noticeable, but wanted to mention it. I have tried to describe this AMX accurately. Nothing to hide here. This is a Beautiful car that runs Great, drives and shifts perfect and sounds just like the old days. The car is Very straight. I called and talked to the Man at the body shop in N.J. that did the work. Since he didn’t do the work for me there would be no reason for him to lie, but he told me that he was blown away. He said that this car was 99% rust free when he stripped it. My buy it now is firm. I consider this car a 3 owner 42 year survivor. I’m in no need to sell it, but I recently bought 2 more toys and you know the rest.?????? The under side has been painted and or undercoated black. If you need more info, I should be available most anytime. Home 941-723-9475 Cell 941-224-4293 Call or email for questions.
