Vehicle Detail

With much regret we are selling our beautiful 1972 classic Chevy truck. It is an original condition California truck with the original blue and yellow license plates. We are just the second owner of this ¾ ton, fully loaded and most luxurious of all, “Cheyenne Super” edition pickup. It is loaded with tons of rare and valuable Factory options, all backed up with the original protecto sheet in the glovebox, and all kinds of original paperwork. Some of the many options include the 4 barrel 400 Big block engine, Turbo 400 automatic transmission (freshly rebuilt to original specifications), Dana 60 full floating rear end on heavy duty leaf springs, special equipment, stainless steel camper mirrors, auxiliary fuel tank, air conditioning (in-op), power steering, power disc brakes, extra soft seat foam, and even the very rare Sliding rear window. This pickup has been very well kept, and is a completely original, numbers matching classic. The truck was purchased by me from the original owner, and comes complete with the original vehicle inspection sheets, all records of maintenance, fuel fill ups, and even the original California titles and such. The first owner took great pride in how well he kept up the truck, and made sure that whenever any work was done, it was with the correct made in USA, GM parts only. I also made sure to keep everything original. It has just 125,000 documented miles. There is no visible rust other than surface paint patina, nor is there any body rot of any kind in any area; the paint is the original medium red, and has the typical CA sunburn and patina. There are several dents (some small, some large), and scratches, but overall all the body is in remarkable shape for its age. No body work has ever been done to this truck’s original factory two tone paint. The factory original, matching numbers Big Block engine is very strong and powerful, and easily pulls the vehicle up to speed with or without any load. This is the 396 cubic inch engine that Chevrolet badged the 400 big block. The dual exhaust is in good shape and is nice and quiet. It could probably use a tune up, fresh gas, and a lube, but it does run very well for its age. The dash and exterior lights all work, the horn, backup lights, gauges, wipers, and everything else works as it should. The Automatic transmission and driveline is also freshly rebuilt. The truck had been in storage and the transmission was slow going into gear on the drive home, so we decided to have it completely rebuilt so as not to have any problems. This numbers matching automatic Turbo 400 3 speed Hydramatic now shifts very quickly, but also is smooth, and does not have any harsh shift kits or other modifications. Just a nice, perfectly adjusted automatic transmission. The Cheyenne Super option adds a huge sway bar and heavy duty springs all around, too. The power disc brakes are incredibly strong, yet very progressive, and add a level of safety and security not often seen in an older vehicle. The parking brake is strong and sure. The truck operates perfectly in all weather and traffic conditions. It starts right up with the 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetor (matching numbers), that was rebuilt at the same time as the transmission. The tires are high quality 50% Michelin LTX “E” rated tires with great grip, low road noise, and a smooth controlled ride. The truck rides like it’s on a cloud on the original rubber GM body mounts, and the road motions are slow and controlled, and is completely absent of the high frequency jitters common to newer vehicles. The factory AC does not blow cold air, however, and needs charging and probably seals, hoses, etc. It is all complete though, with no missing parts or pieces. The rest of the vehicle is just as it was when it left the factory, and is ALL original and unmolested. A true survivor that is ready for either a restoration to show quality; or you could drive it daily, use it for trips to the dumps or the feed store; use it to tow your boat or show vehicle in style, or anything you wish. This is not a restored truck by any means, and has all the normal squeaks, rattles, wind noise and such that are unavoidable in any vehicle this age. I have been driving it very little and mostly locally but it has never failed to start and run well, ever. Well, that about explains everything we can think of, and we’re hoping the truck makes it to a good home and that you will enjoy it as much as we have over the past 4 years or so.
