Vehicle Detail

1985 Grand Wagoneer My favorite color combo, Sterling silver metalic with Garnet red interior. Here's the story behind it with me as the owner. I picked this Jeep up in Oregon about 2 years ago, the engine was newly rebuilt and I have put about 6-7000 miles on it since. I would guess the engine has about 10k miles on it total. It is clean, just like it should be with the miles. The motor is not the stock 360, it is the bigger and badder 401 that was rebuilt for this. I have driven it back and forth to Portland and to Vegas a few times without hesitation it runs like a 401 should. It does however still retain all the factory gear under the hood, air pump is still hooked up and pumping, A/C is blowing ICE cold with R-12. What I have done to it other than drive it - I put new tires on it, 235/75R15 Cooper whitewalls, I had it completely professionally repainted with basecoat/clearcoat, I put a complete new full 3" exhaust system on it. I had the carb rebuilt and a full tune up - all filters, plugs, wires, timing adjusted, cap, rotor. Brand new battery from Costco. Had a new Kenwood stereo system installed at over $1000, Kenwood speakers too. I sourced many hard to find parts, including factory speaker grills. I also replaced all 6 seatbelts with belts from a 1991 Grand Wagoneer. Had the A/C system checked and topped off...It gets ICE cold even when it's 110 out. If you are a wagoneer junky, you would see the reciever hitch and just assume it has the higher gears for towing, this one doesn't, I think they are 2.73, I have never seen this in another jeep with the reciever hitch, most have 3.31 gears for towing. It does have the factory aux. trans cooler. With the 401 it doesn't matter much because it has enough power anyway, but it also allows you to run it 80-85 mph without the rpms being really high. I have personally run this jeep alot faster than that accross the desert in NV without issue. The interior is nice, and all original. The front leather is cracked and the drivers seat has one small split in it, It still looks pretty decent for 26 years old. If you wanted you can still get the factory cloth inserts in Garnet red from teamgrandwagoneer.com If you had to make it perfect. The dash is as close to perfect as you get, no cracks or damage. The carpet still looks and feels good, it has one small chunk that was cut out in front of the passenger seat, I'm not sure why? It is about a jagged 4" circle and the piece is still there, just ripped or cut out. The back of the back seat is obvious in the pics, it has been torn all the way accross, it might be possible to sew it back together, I'm not sure. The very back passenger side of the cargo area also has the carpet torn (this is fairly common if you find any 80's wagoneer with original carpet. The headliner cloth is not there, you can also get that from teamgrandwagoneer or bjsoffroad. The back cargo light is also missing. It has a brand new Kenwood stereo system with bluetooth and Ipod controls, The wiring is in the glovebox which needs a new liner also. The exterior is also nice, it has been repainted once, I had it done professionally, it looks great! The wood trim was not taken off, it was taped off. This was done mostly due to the fact you cannot get the bordering trim if your accidentally break it taking it off. the woodgrain was also in good shape, so why replace it? All the hard parts were removed during the repaint. It is shiny, shiny and looks AWESOME!! Things I want to point out, that you cannot see or may overlook. It has a fan shroud on the radiator, this aids in cooling and if it is gone, there is a reason...mostly because the motor mounts are bad and the fan hit it and broke it. It has the underhood factory insulation, this is something that is also normally removed on these older wagoneers. Although the factory smog air pump is hooked up and running, I had the exhaust shop take out the catalytic converter when the new exhaust was put on....I had them just plumb it into the exhaust. (If you live in California you will need a converter, but it should be simple for an exhaust shop to add in) Most 401's would have a 4 barrel carb and intake, this one has the factory 360 intake and 2 barrel motorcraft carb. The drivers door window needs a new track....easily replaced and sourced from the earlier mentioned wagoneer websites. the exterior window rubber was removed for repaint, I never ordered new to replace it, same deal, you can get it from either wagoneer website. The factory mechanical fuel pump was removed, it now has a electric fuel pump (I don't like it) It has all 4 centercaps (price those out and you will know why I mention this) THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE NO RUST JEEP!!! There's MORE!!! Other stuff that will go with it - I also have a complete set of Michelin Studless snow tires mounted on a set of factory 1983 wagoneer alloy wheels (again..with all 4 centercaps) Set of 4 tire chains, extra window motors and parts, 2 factory steel spare wheels, Rear factory wind dam with nice wood, the armrest for the right rear door, the speaker grill cover for the right front door. A complete set of door seal rubber, misc armrests and spare parts too. Things I don't like, haven't fixed, really aren't relavent, but I will share them anyway..............The electric fuel pump....I mentioned I don't like it, here is why...It is wired into a oil pressure switch, I'm not sure what pressure the switch comes on, but my guess is about 20 psi, if you know about jeeps, you know the oil pressure sometimes runs low at idle when warm. I did have one scenario when it just died driving it, I was sitting at a stoplight in 115 degree heat and I think the oil psi dropped and the fuel pump turned off letting it run out of gas essentially. It does have an override switch to turn the fuel pump on if that happens. I think that was just dumb to put the electric fuel pump on period. I've thought about changing it, and it would be simple and cheap, about $50 but just hasn't been that important. I don't have any door keys, The rear window key switch is out, I have it and the switch in the tailgate works by inserting the whole assembly and turning it. The switch on the dash for the tailgate only works when you clap 3 times and reach through the steering wheel with your right arm over your left (mostly, it doesn't work) I've never tried the cruise control, so lets just say it doesn't work. It is complete and all components are there hooked up under the hood. Back to the door keys, I think I might have some replacement locks with keys....however, you don't need them, it has keyless entry that has never failed for me. I like horsepower, and who doesn't? I think a 401 deserves a nice 4 barrel intake and big carb, more air, more fuel, more power. Something I always wanted to change, never did, like my dad always told me and keeps telling me, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. I'll leave that up to you. The passenger front wing window needs the latch put back on/and or replaced all together to make it close tight. Never bothered me, since I sit in the drivers seat. My kids always complain that it makes wind noise. (They probably wouldn't notice either if there weren't trying to watch a movie on that new Kenwood stereo) The engine does have what I would call an RV cam, it isn't nasty, but with the exhaust it sounds pretty gnarly. This baby makes some noise when you mash the go pedal! I listed absolutely everything I could think of, both good or bad, nobody does that. Bid with confidence!!! I'm hoping to get around $7500-8000 out of it, and it is worth every penny.....I have way more than that into it! But, I'm going to list it with NO RESERVE and just take what it brings. That is the way eBay is supposed to work! If it sells for the opening bid, so be it, somebody will be getting a supreme deal! I will sell overseas, and already have a transporter that can take it to the port of Los Angeles for $300. If I missed something or you want to ask me anything, just call, text, email..... It seems it has taken me hours to write this and get these pictures uploaded. Gary 503-860-forty fifty. I am also going to try and get a video up shortly of it running and driving, mostly so you can hear what I hear....complete awesomeness! Here it is, It isn't going to win any film awards but gives you a different look and you can hear and see it run and drive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiRlUk_wcVg&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL Hopefully my neighbors don't watch it.On Aug-11-11 at 08:50:50 PDT, seller added the following information: As I went back and watched my video, I noticed a few things. The headlight knob is missing, just the knob...you can pull the shaft to turn it on very easily. It also has a brand new pair of Bosch windshield wipers. I also have a car cover that will go with it.
