Vehicle Detail
Here is the project you've been looking for. It's a barn fresh 1967 BMW R60/2. This bike was recently removed from a storage building where it was parked approximately 15-20 years ago. It was a running/riding bike when it was drained of gas and stored. Unfortunately, while it was out of the weather the building was not climate-controlled or sealed and the bike has weathered from the humidity and moisture Look over all the pictures carefully for the physical condition of the bike. The bike is in need of a complete restoration, but it is a very complete example and well worth the effort. The engine in the bike is not stuck. It kicks over and has compression. The carb slides are presently stuck, however. The engine in the bike is not the original engine. Fortunately I do have the original engine block and it is included with the bike. The original engine block is bare, but looks to be in good shape. The neck plate matches the frame number and the included spare block (as pictured). In addition to the bike I have some excellent documentation that is also included in the auction. The person who last rode/registered the bike was the second owner and purchased it in September 1967 with 1229 miles. I have his owner's manual with pages of his handwritten service notes chronicling his repair efforts until February 1979 at which point the bike had over 132000 miles. In addition to the handwritten service records the manual has notations among the service instructions where he took measurements and performed repairs. Documentation this thorough rarely survives with the bike for so long. In addition to the maintenance manual I have the title to the bike issued in October 1967. It matches the frame/neck plate and is clear. It is signed by the owner, notarized, and is open (no buyer information filled out). The title is almost the original one, the bike having had 1229 miles when it was purchased, and should be copied for posterity before you transfer it into your name. Terms of the auction. I have done my best to fully and accurately describe the bike, but in the end it is being sold strictly as-is. I encourage anyone interested to contact me with any questions or come see the bike in person if possible. A deposit of $250 is due via Paypal or US Postal Money Order within 48 hours of the close of the auction. The remainder is due via Cash at pickup, or if the bike is to be shipped it must be paid via US Postal Money Orders or Bank Wire Transfer. No cashier's checks, personal checks, or Paypal for the balance. All shipping arrangements are the sole responsibility of the winning bidder. I will assist in any way I can, but I will not ship the bike or choose a shipping company. Neither the bike nor the title will be released until the full balance of the auction is paid and cleared through an approved form of payment. Update: I have been asked several questions regarding shipping the bike, so I would like to clarify my above statement on shipping. Where the bike goes after it leaves my possession is up to the winning bidder, but the bike is being sold as pick-up only. I will not be responsible in any way for shipping the bike, or recommending a shipper. I can arrange to meet with a shipper for pick up where the bike is being stored and can help them load it if necessary, but I cannot crate the bike and/or deliver it to a shipper. I will package and ship the engine block and documentation separately for the cost of the postage. If anyone still has questions regarding shipping or payment terms please feel free to contact me.
