Vehicle Detail

Introduction: Up for auction is an all original 1980 MGB Convertible. This car has been very nicely preserved and cared for its entire life. This car is all original with only 45,000 actual miles, and it even boasts its original tires it came with from the factory. Let's take a few moments to walk around this car and check it out fully! Exterior: Drenching all of the classic British lines of this MGB is a rarely seen Russet Brown. The body is all original and is razor straight and very solid. The paint is in good condition for its age, but does show some signs of wear. From 5 feet away the car looks prefect, but if you get up real close you can see the some paint flaws. On the passenger side quarter panel there is some "specking" to the paint. Not sure how else to describe it other than tiny tiny dots. There are a couple of small rust bubbles on the driver's side quarter panel by the rear bumper. Total area the size of a dime. Bubbles have not broken through the paint and are not structural issues. The rubber bumpers are in great shape with no cracking or discoloration. They retain a deep rich luster. The original Triplex windows are all in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, or discoloration. The black convertible top is also in excellent condition without any rips or tears, and it seals up very tightly. Again this car is a completely original, unrestored, car. The only part that has been restored are the Rostyle wheels. They were recently repainted to match the class of the rest of the car. Interior: Open either door and step into vintage European digs. The camel tan interior is completely original and in excellent condition. The seats, door panels, dash, console, carpet are all without rips, tears, cracks, or stains. Everything inside the car works all the way down to the in-dash clock. Heat works on all functions, all the lights and signals work, radio works, wipers work, over-drive works, console light works, and all gauges work. Located in the trunk is the original Michelin XZX spare tire along with the original tools. The trunk is exceptionally solid with no structural rust or rust damage. Mechanical: Bump the key and bring to life the 1800cc 4 cylinder engine. I have owned several MGs in the past and this one is by far the most powerful of all of them. The engine doesn't smoke or leak anything and maintains a constant oil pressure of 75lbs. The clutch is smooth and effortless and the transmission shifts with ease into all gears. The over-drive transmission works perfectly and brings the rpms down for a much more enjoyable highway rpm. The power disc brakes bring everything to a halt with ease. As mentioned before the wheels were recently restored just to bring them up to the level of the car, but other than that it is completely original down to the original Michelin XZX tires. These tires are definitely showing their age and should probably be replaced before any long road trips, or if you wanted to keep the originality of the car they do work great for around town cruising. The floors and undercarriage of the car is just as solid and original as the rest of it. There is not a speck of rust on the bottom side of the car, and for sure no holes or patchwork. This car has been professionally maintained its entire life by a MG specialist at a local European garage. Details: Thank you for taking the time to walk around this gorgeous, all original, 1980 MGB.
