Vehicle Detail
In this auction we have a great 1969 Triumph Bonneville T120R that is suitable as a great every day rider. This is one of the final two bikes remaining from the estate of a deceased friend of mine who was a lifelong Triumph enthusiast. Both are up for auction at this time. While this bike has not received a full Concours d'Elegance restoration (most bikes being noted as "restored" hardly qualify as they are not examples of what a bike was like when it left the factory), it has had consistent, attentive maintenance and is in fine shape. This would be a perfect machine for an every day rider or a potential project for an easy future restoration. It runs, idles, and shifts well and in my test ride after installing a new battery and putting in fresh gas it was very comfortable smooth ride even after sitting in storage since my friend's passing. Also note -- This bike has a clear title and is ready to ride and, while these are not original miles from the factory since my friend had rebuilt and worked to restore this machine several times over, at his last road test it had 1,187 miles on it since the rebuild. The easiest way to describe this bike is to describe its life under the ownership of the mechanic who rode it. He was meticulous in his notes and the maintenance he performed. The oil was changed religiously. The points, along with the timing, gaskets, fuel filters, and chain tension, were always checked and/or replaced as needed. The carbs were often resleeved on his bikes to prolong their functional life. Compression in each cylinder was measured during routine upkeep and the gauges were often rebuilt if needed. Essentially, whether it came to monitoring the psi in the tires or the cleanliness of the motor sump, his main concern was the function and performance of his bike. This machine specifically has not been regularly ridden since my friend became ill. After consulting with his widow, I did verify the last rebuild miles are as noted above and she verified some of the other details noted above. Since the sole mechanic for this bike has passed, however, there is no further information available. His main project was the other bike up for auction and that received the most attention regarding notes and rebuild progress. As the bike he chose to more than any other, however, I can safely say this is a top notch machine and can provide a link to the video of it being started, running, and pulling away for reference.
