Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1957 Ford Courier model sedan delivery "Gasser" style hot rod. This car was originally built up back in the 60's, and had been sitting in a storage unit in Boise since 1991 before I purchased it last year from the gentleman who did all the work on the car. Most of the parts on this car have been there since the late 60's, and still runs and drives great! It has a 312 Y block engine that is bored .080" over and has a balanced racing assembly from Speed-O-Motive (South Gate, California), 3.80" +.080" (crank, rods, pistons, rings and wrist pins). Camshaft is a Howard's cam, #CTR. duration 263 deg. intake, 273 deg. exhaust, with a lift of .286. It also has a Holley brand dual point distributor, stock wide base 4 barrel intake with Edelbrock 600 cfm carb, Thunderbird aluminum Y block valve covers, and Sanderson fender well exit headers that dump into home made side pipes with Thrush 4244 mufflers (2 1/4 I.D.) Engine doesn't smoke, runs strong and has great oil pressure. The transmission is a BorgWarnerT-10 (C30A-G-1) 9 bolt, curved bottom side plate, out of 1964 Fairlane with a 289. Has a 10.4' clutch and a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. Syncro's are going out, so it pops out of second under deceleration. Has vintage Cragar mags that were made for and sold by J.C. Penny's. Tires are GasMiser brand tires sold by Montgomery Ward's, P195/75R14's up front, and P215/75R14 in back. Tires do have weather checking on the side walls. The interior has Dodge van bucket seats on pick up bases with swivels, and are covered in black and gold vinyl, the gold being used in the rest of the interior. Sterwart Warner gauges and tach. Body is in great shape, except for some rust in the rockers, and the floor on the driver side, which has been rusted out and covered with a piece of sheet metal. Front end is all steel tilt with 58 Fairlane scooped hood. Nose piece has large dent above grille. This car is a real time capsule. Iv'e tried to keep as much of it as it was originally done, but have added an aluminum fuel cell and Holley electric fuel pump, rebuilt the complete brake system (new shoes, rebuilt the wheel cylinders) and switched over to en early Ford truck dual reservoir master cylinder. I know there's more, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. This car is a driver, and is a blast to cruise around in. Also comes with a tow bar set up, that the gentleman used to tow it behind his 64 Fairlane, and some extra parts, like stock radio, clock, bezels that are in boxes and unmolested complete dash. On Aug-06-11 at 14:24:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Have had quite a few questions on whether or not I drive it, and yes, I drive it daily to the shop, and have taken it to a couple of car shows, where it has gotten lots of attention. Tail lights, turn signals, headlights, vacuum wipers and even horns all work!!A couple of other points I forgot, this is the Courier model, which means it never had a back seat. Just a lot of storage compartments in the back. And that also means the lift gate in the back is one piece, it doesn't "clam shell" like normal wagons. Also included is a brand new patch panel for the drivers floor section. It is for a shoe box Chevy, but close enough if you don't have access to a fab shop. Also, all the glass is good, though the driver door glass is cracked, but in one piece.
