Vehicle Detail

Only bid if you are serious about purchasing the car. Four times now I've had scammers purchase the car and fail to make payment. EBAY HAS AGREED TO PERSUE CHARGES FOR LIABILITY ON THESE INDIVIDUALS SO ONLY BID IF YOU ARE SERIOUS OR YOU WILL BE ADDED TO THIS LIST. The auction is three days long with a starting bid of $300. There is no reserve, so the car will be sold to the highest bidder. Payment must be made via PayPal within 24 hrs of winning the auction. The car must be picked up within seven days of winning the auction. No other form of payment will be accepted, so don't ask. These terms are to protect both me and the buyer. Local buyers can schedule a point to see the car, however payment still must be processed via PayPal. Up for sale is a 1999 Toyota Corolla LE Sedan. Payment must be received within 24 hours. Buyer is responsible for the costs associated with title transfer and taxes. The car has low miles and has just had a fresh oil and air cleaner change along with new spark plugs. THE CAR DOES, HOWEVER, NEED A NEW BATTERY. The car drives fine however the motor has started to make a rattling noise. A local mechanic listened to it and said it was a wrist pin. A video of what it sounds like can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVgqHai2qJE. It's not this car, but the sound is the same. A buddy of mine used it to move from Indiana to Pennsylvania and gave it to me after buying himself a new Jaguar. I'm not a mechanic so I have no idea the severity of the engine problem and have priced the car accordingly As such, the car is being sold AS IS. Kelley blue book for this car in fair condition is $4,745, however that price assumes the vehicle is in good working order. This car is being sold for $1,500, a discount low enough to cover up to and including a new engine if need be. The gentleman that gave me the car purchased it in South Bend, Indiana while he was there opening up a new Irish Pub called Kildare's (www.kildare'sirishpub.com). He is Irish himself and moved here to open restaurants for the chain. When he purchased the car it had around 68K miles on it and drove it for a year or so and put around another 10K on it. He moved here mid 2010 to open another Kildare's in State College, PA, home of Penn State and only 5 miles or so from Bellefonte (Bellefonte is almost dead center in the state of PA). He rented an apartment from my grandmother who mentioned that he was interested in just giving his car away because he had just purchased a new Jaguar. He said he was from Ireland and didn't want to fool with trying to sell it, so I agreed to take it off his hands. A few weeks ago he had to return to Ireland to aid his sick mother...so you might see a cheap Jaguar on eBay in the near future. As far as the condition goes, yes, the car is perfectly drivable. I probably drove it around town 20 miles or so...it works fine however the engine can get noisy at times from the loose wrist pin. The clutch is a little iffy...grabbing pretty close to the floor, however, at $1,500 replacing a light duty clutch plate should be cheap. The car has a few dents here and there, but only one spot of rust that I noticed. The interior could use a good scrubbing...but hey, it's only $1,500...a little TLC could make this a pretty cheap and fuel efficient ride. I'm not carrying insurance on the car so I can't offer test drives because of liability. The car has some dents which I tried to highlight in the pictures, however it is relatively rust free. I only noticed one small--as in one inch by a half inch--spot of surface rust by the trunk lid. The past owner did smoke in the car from time-to-time, but the smell from cigarettes isn't that strong (my opinion and I'm a non-smoker). The headliner is loose and needs to be refitted. I washed and waxed the car and couldn't find any leaks from the aftermarket sun roof. The car has not been inspected yet in Pennsylvania. All sales are final and payment is accepted via PayPal only. Please feel free to send me any questions you have and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Good Luck!
