Vehicle Detail
Hello, up for auction is my 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 Quad Cab pickup. It is 2WD, has the commercial 5.9L Cummins Turbo diesel, 5 speed manual trans, and a Dana 80 3.55 ratio rear axle. The truck has just under 242,000 miles. This has been a great truck for me, but at this point I no longer use it for hauling or work, and it is too much for what I need. It is a great puller, I had no problems criss-crossing the south and midwest with it, and getting around 17-19MPG on average. I am selling to purchase a smaller truck. Truck is paid for and I have a clear NC title in hand. It passed yearly state inspection back in January. Added Upgrades: - AirDog 100 Fuel Pump/filter system- Pac-Brake Engine Exhaust Brake- Quadzilla Adrenaline Programmer- S&B Performance Air intake- Air Lift Rear Air suspension assist- ARE Topper with lock/keys, sliding windows- 2 5/16 bed mounted 5th wheel hitch ball- Class V Towing hitch- 7 Way trailer power receptacle - Power/Heated Folding towing mirrors- ATS 3 piece exhaust manifold In the fall of 2010, I did a round of maintenance on the truck, which included replacing all the belts, hoses, belt tensioner, differential fluid change, oil/fuel filter change (every 6 months or 7500 miles), rear brake shoes, rear drums, and wheel seals. I also replaced the cracked original exhaust manifold with an upgraded 3 piece ATS exhaust manifold. It has expansion joints so cracking will not occur again, and better flow for a little bit of performance. I also replaced the alternator, and rebuilt the starter. In 2009, both batteries were replaced with Mopar batteries with a 7 year warranty. At approximately 215,000 miles, clutch was replaced, and the transmission was overhauled. Shortly after the Injection pump was replaced with a remanufactured pump from Cummins. I removed the stock fuel lift pump at that point and added the Air Dog 100 fuel pump, for better reliability and fuel delivery. At that time the front brakes and right front caliper were replaced. In 2009, I replaced all of the front ball joints. I have receipts and paperwork for most of it. Tires were replaced the year before, they are still 70% tread. I still drive the truck on 1,000 mile trips on occasion, and it performs flawlessly every time. I would drive it anywhere. It has been very reliable, and most of the repairs I had to do were maintenance items replacing 9-10 year old original parts that had worn out. This would be a great truck to haul cars, horses, or equipment, anything you can throw at it. All accessories and options work, A/C blows ice cold. The truck is not perfect, and does need some TLC, mostly cosmetic. The black paint is peeling off of the plastic bumper cover on the front. The drivers side mirror is cracked, thanks to an iceball striking it on the highway last winter. It will need to be replaced (1-200$ on ebay). There is a stone chip in the windshield, at the very right center of the glass, out of view of the driver or passenger. The cigarette lighter and power outlet are missing, as my GPS plug broke off in them, and I havent had a chance to replace. There are three cracks in the dash (see pictures). The drivers seat has a tear it in near the back (very common on Ram trucks) and some cracking has started in the leather. It has general wear and tear inside from 12 years of use. Mechanically, the truck is in very good shape overall. No major issues that I know of. It does have 2 oil leaks, one is the turbo drain tube o-ring, and the other the front crankshaft seal. It loses about 1 quart every 2 months. From what I can see most of the leak is the turbo drain tube, to the best of my knowledge. Reserve is set to compensate for the TLC needed. Body and paint is great overall. No big dents or dings. No rust. This is a southern truck, has been all its life. I had a dent in the drivers side door repaired a couple years ago and decided to install the newer style Ram 3500 emblems. At that time I also changed the mirrors to the folding towing mirrors. There are a few stone chips and scratches here and there, a small dent in the rear bumper, but overall the paint and clear coat is in great shape. No peeling or fading. I have described this truck to the best of my knowledge. Keep in mind it is a 12 year old truck. Do not expect it to be perfect. It has always been maintained as needed by me personally. I have 10 years of automotive repair experience. Truck is sold AS-IS, where is, I will not ship this vehicle, you must pickup locally in Zebulon, NC. If you want to fly in I can pick you up at the RDU airport. No warrantees whatsoever, written expressed, or implied. Cash or certified check only. Cash is preferred. You are more than welcome to come test drive the truck and inspect it in person before bidding. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions or concerns about the truck at daytrepperaz@yahoo.com. Reserve is set below private party value.
