Vehicle Detail
This car is unbelievable, it was owned by 1 family and was kept in impecable condition. Just to show how pickey the original owner was, he glued a piece of felt under the key switch so the keys wouldn't scratch the dash!!! The car was originally purchased in Montana, and the story goes that the owner would drive it until the first rain or snow then he would park it until all of the inclement weather was done then drive it for the summer. It only has 78000 miles on it due to the low useage. The seats are original, with a tear in the back seat and the front seat needs some sewing. Everything works on the car but the radio, which just humms when turned on. I have new parts for it but have not gotten time to replace them. The dash lights, dome lights, and even the mercury switch under the hood works!! The defroster fan, the environmental switches, all heat and vents work just like new. By the looks of them they weren't used much, cause there is no wear on them. The car has rubber floor mats that are starting to deteriorate, and the rubber weather stripping will need to be replaced at some time. I drive this car at least a couple of times a month, when the weather is good and would drive it across the country without a thought. The engine purrs, and the transmission shifts just like new! I replaced the hub caps with new remanufactured caps because the others were not a matched set. I replaced the fuel tank, because I was getting small rust particles in the fuel filter. I replaced the out-put seal on the transmission, cause it leaked a little. It may even have the original spare tire, and still has the readable jacking instructions in the trunk compartment. I have the original purchase invoice (in excellent condition) dated 7-22-1957 with the signed owner service policy along with the Delco Battery owners warranty card from the day the car was purchased (I have included photos of the paperwork). This paperwork isn't valueable, because the car wasn't owned by a famous movie star but it shows the care this car has been shown it's entire life. Now with all of this being said it is a 54 year old car that is still running strong, it has a couple of small dings in the bumper, it has some scratches in the paint (the car was scuffed and repainted the original color in the early '80's), it has a crack in one of the side windows, it is missing the glass in the passenger side rear view mirror. I have had the car up on my car lift and see some surface rust under the car on the frame (I haven't found any body rust) but I've seen a lot of cars that are less than 10 years old that don't come close to the condition of this car. I truly don't want to sell this car because you don't find cars in this shape and I would die to think someone would buy this car just for the condition of the parts!!! In these times I can't keep everything so my loss it your gain. I can't think of anything else to disclose, if you see this car you will love it. I would prefer that you come and see the car in person, or get an agent to inspect it. Please ask questions, I don't want you to get any surprises. I want you to be happy with the purchase, and if you see the car I know you will be! I may possibly deliver to a shipping facility for a fee if the car is shipping Internationally. Please ask prior to close of the auction, if this is something that you may be interested in. Buyer is responsible for all shipping after the car is delivered to the shipping facility.
