Here up for bids is a 1932 Studebaker Model 55.  This car was frame off restored in the 70s and was awarded an AACA National First Place in 1975.  36 years later, the restoration has mellowed a bit, the car is still very presentable but shows some age related flaws.  Because of this, and because the restoration was to exacting standards, its appearance now almost approaches that of a very well preserved original car.  See the photos below, click to enlarge any of them. The car's paint looks excellent from 20 feet but shows some flaws up close, all age related.  These include areas of pimpling, isolated light checking, and some touched in chips. The direct sunlight in these photos really made the blue color stand out, on an overcast day the color tones down quite a bit and can even appear as black in dim light.  The detail photo of the spare tire above is probably the closest approximation of how the color actually appears. The car has the optional chromed wheels, all in good shape. Nice details throughout, these cars were beautifully styled. The interior has aged well, it's in very nice condition other than one mended hole on the front seat.  The headliner, door panels and upholstery are all still very nice.  All gauges work correctly, except for the gas gauge.  I've simply been unlocking the cap and peering in the tank when I need to know the level, it's very visible. The underdash has a master cutoff switch and a Studebaker heater.  The door jambs, sills, and running boards all look terrific. The back seat area is in great shape.  All windows wind smoothly, all of the glass are the original 'Safety-Plate' pieces in great shape. The car comes with the original jacking equipment, wheel chock, hand crank, and a nice selection of vintage tools. The car starts easily and runs out very well.  It motors down the road in a leisurely, orderly fashion.  Other than a slight exhaust leak, the car is very well behaved.  The car shifts well, brakes well, shows good oil pressure, and runs cool.  The "Startix" automatic starting system works just as its intended to.
