Vehicle Detail

Hello All, Now that I have your attention here is what is up for auction. You are look at an original 1978 Mustang II 302 V8 4 speed with T-Tops This car is clean in so many ways and also needs TLC in some areas, Now I am not gonna give you some BS about how this car is mint or hardly has rust, it has rust but is not rusted out, it is on the clean side though there are areas that need attention. I also believe this is a date matching car as the trans and engine can be date verified. It is 33 years old so dont expect a mint car, but she is prettty nice for the age Soooo to begin…. Please read all!!! I purchased this car with full intention on using the mildly built 302 for my 78 f100, I purchased it not running and as i dove into the numbers and body of this car, i found it to be a numbers matching car or in Fords terms date matching, and the overall under carriage and body pretty nice. The trans# and date code match, the engine code and date are within the 1978-1981 dates as are the heads. Everything matches to whats on the vin with exception to the color which has been painted red by the previous owner ( and not to good i might add.) About the car: The car is originally a 302 V8 2bbl with 78,499 miles, original 4spd trans with headers, dual exhaust adjustable suspension power steering, power brakes and YES… T-Tops. "Check The VIN" (I DID) (one step down from the V8 Mach 1 "no AC") Car was originally green with the chamois interior, and previous owner painted it red. Dash is untouched and unscathed, (just dirty) and has the original radio and a built in dash equalizer and the clock is above the radio, don’t think the equalizer does, but haven’t dove into to it to see if it is even connected. Car has Mickey Thompson ET Aluminum slots (not sure if they are the originals) with new 175/70/13’s all the way around. Car has a hood scoop, the PO did a poor job of cutting in, I managed to bolt in back in for a better look. All window glass is clean and free from any cracks, that includes the T-Tops. The heater hoses have been set up to bypass the heater core for racing, PO did it not me, I just kept it like that. When i got te car she was wired wrong, out of time, and spark plugs were wired for that of a 351 windsor. I went through replaced timing chain and gears, water pump and all gaskets as well as intake and header gaskets, new brake lines, new brakes on front, new fuel lines and radiator hoses. (power steering pump will need replaced, it has sprung a leak!!!). Body: The body and underneath of this Mustang are pretty darn good, however the PO who did the paint job didn’t bother to fix the imperfections, they painted right over them as the pictures show, surface rust areas that weren’t sanded were shot right over, I am sure there is no bondo in this, as they would have covered even the little spots, seems all solid and original metal, she is pretty solid!!! The bumpers could use replacement, back one is shot, but don’t warrant it not to be drivable. Underneath and rockers are just as clean and the only holes in the floor pans are on the driver’s side, some pin holes near the left front seat bolt and two other in the center where the sub-frame open area is. Largest hole being the size that of a mouse, but doesn’t go through (you can’t see the ground though it!!!) the passenger side rear left has some minor pin holes. The rear hatch area is the cleanest I have seen in cars that are being sold. Side mirrors are there, passenger side is missing mirror and is not connected via the remote cable. Driver’s door has slight sag, passenger door is tight i have another set of hinges. Bottoms of doors do have some fixable rust at the seams but nothing that would constitute replacement. Rear hatch sills iare not rotted but the hatch has a hole on the underside of passenger side, Shocks that hold it up don’t, they will need replaced. Interior: The head liner is torn in spots and is missing in one section, the bucket seats and rear seats are of chamois in color and have aged and are covered with cheap seat covers. Drivers seat has tears and is rough, hence the seat covers. . Windows roll up and down with no issues, dash has no cracks but does have some surface rust spots on the metal part of the dash. No carpet, ( I was going to buy some, but I didn’t want people to think I was hiding the floor pans) Door panels are in good shape and have not been butchered. All panels are in place minus the bottom(plastic) sill plates. T-Tops are complete and are free from any defects, don’t know if they leak, car has been indoors except when it is nice enough to work on and drive it. Head lights and tail lights work, only half the dash lights work (lower half), blinkers and flashers and wipers also work, heater does not (disconnected) as mentioned. The Numbers: After visiting many sites and checking VIN and codes, I have found the 4spd trans to be 100% original( iam sure it has been rebuilt), The engine I could only say about 75% sure because the engine code reveals 1978-1981 production year and the heads match that theory. The rear end I am 100% sure it is the true conventional rear. The cowl and frame numbers match the vin, but i cannot say this is a numbers matching car, because the color does not reflect that. I have supplied all the numbers below for those of you who are numbers kind of guys. VIN: 8F03F224389 Engine Code: D3UE-6015-A3A Intake D30E-9425-AA Heads: (had them wrote down and lost them but is started with D80E...) Trans: RF-D42R-7222-AA 13-32-097-901 Tail Shaft: RF D6ZR-7A040-CA There is a picture of the door tag for the rest of the code/trim numbers. New Parts installed: Intake manifold gaskets Exhaust Header gaskets Radiator hoses (upper and lower) Fuel line all the way to tank Fuel Filter Rear brake lines all the way to proportioning valve and to Brake booster Newer calipers and pads Carburetor gaskets Newer Tires Timing chain and Gears Water pump and gaskets Valve cover gaskets Spark Plugs I have been honest and have tried to take true pictures of the good and bad of this mustang. This mustang runs great, drives great and is an excellent candidate for a Mach1, or even cobra clone, or just simply restore back to originality. I have my Truck, My MR2, my boat and my camper (as you see in the pics so i am not bsing anyone)and I would rather play with those than sacrifice funds to this car. I have decided to sell so I can put the money towards those exact things Winning buyer is to pick vehicle up, or come and drive it home. Winner also must contact us within 24 hours of listing end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. This car is rough cosmetically on the interior but is structurally sound and she does run and drive, just no power steering, besides its a 4 spd who needs it hahaha. On Jul-24-11 at 19:51:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Sheesh..i am looking over my add and forgetting little details. The car has dual headers with dual exhaust but the, the PO hung the exhaust kinda crappy, i would relocate them, but they do sound pretty good but rattle do to their location with the exhaust tips in front of the rear tires. On Jul-26-11 at 14:58:50 PDT, seller added the following information: I HAVE ADDED A CRAIGSLIST LINK TO VIEW PICS OF THE TRUNK AND HATCH..I Also reserve the right to pull it from auction at any time as i have it for sale locally as well. Thanks and i hope this helps. http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/2514838703.html
