Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Normale (750D) which will require a complete restoration. This is chassis number *03226*, which Fusi shows as one of the last six 750D spiders made in 1957, which makes it eligible for the California Mille and other related events for 1957 and earlier cars. The California registration is currently in process and I will pay all related fees to provide a clear California title. This auction will close at approximately 9:00 PM, Friday the 29th of July. Please feel free to contact me through e-bay if you have any questions about the car. I reserve the right to close the auction at any point, due to the car being listed elsewhere for sale. Here's all the related details: A full set of over 100 detail pictures is up on my PicasaWeb page at this URL. You will probably have to cut and past the URL it into your browser to see them, due to e-bay's outside links policy:. https://picasaweb.google.com/Tommassosupremo/1957AlfaRomeoSpider03226 The engine is from a 1965 101 1600 spider Normale, and is engine number AR00502 5667. the gearbox is a 105 five speed, serial number 5M8/41. The differential appears to be a stock 750 unit. The starter is Lucas, The distributor is Lucas, the generator is Bosch, and the exhaust manifold is a stock 750 Normale. The carburetor is a Weber 36 DIM 7, most likely from a 1200 Fiat. This week I filled the carburetor with gas and it started right up. I then ran it for about 30 seconds, with 55 psi of oil pressure. Compression results taken immediately after this brief running are 164 psi, 128 psi, 162 psi, and 160 psi. The gearbox condition is unknown, but it is a five speed. Missing items include the hood mounted ID plates, the exhaust system, the heater/fan assembly, and a host of little bits. Incorrect items include the headlight rings which also don't match each other and the dash cap appears to be from a 101 spider. The seats are the quite rare correct 750 seats, which have been welded and repaired in the past. There are no bottom cushions included. The correct lower seat rails that bolt to the chassis are included, but the rails that attach to the seats themselves are not there. The convertible top bows appear to be complete and original to the car. The windshield has some wiper scratches that may or may not be able to be polished out. A wiper motor and related parts is included. The car comes with a set of 5 Fergat wheels and four really worn out tires. For the Abnormale builders out there you will notice this car has the cold air hose cutout in the left fender well, which was common on the later cars and is usually blocked off with a metal plate. No, this does not make it a Veloce. No other parts than the ones in the pictures are included in the sale. The Chassis As with so many Giuliettas of the era, this car has all the usual rust issues in the rocker panels, the doors, the floor pan and a rusty right front jacking point. Full detail pictures of the rusty areas are available at the PicasaWeb page link. The hood, trunk and doors do appear to be original to the car Included spares are shown in the photos and in addition to the shelf load of rusty old parts, is a Sprint gas tank, a slightly rusty 1600 Spider trunk lid, and a 750 spider passenger door.
