Vehicle Detail

IF YOU CANNOT PAY DO NOT BID PLEASE Up for sale today is my 1993 Geo METRO LSi. I have owned a few of these nice cars and all I can say is that letting go of this family friend almost makes me cry. The only reason I am selling this is because I have my eye on a new Ford Fiesta and I do not wish to make the repairs this car needs. THE GOOD: When I was commuting back and forth I got around 47-55 mpg, the engine was a bit noisy (as most Geos tend to be considering their size) but never gave me any issue, never left me stranded. I changed the oil every 3000 miles on the dot along with the oil filter. I put two new rear tires on recently but only drove 50 miles on them until my issue occured so they're almost new. I put a new battery in less than a year ago. New air filter recently, some new fuses here and there. Replaced headlights recently along with taillight bulbs. Put in an Ipod/SD Card/USB radio + speakers so I could listen to my music (nothing too fancy). New Metro decals on trunk and drivers door, repainted a few years ago but they did a horrid job so no pay for them! Recent brake change in the rear, not front though. New door handle cranks on both doors. Had it tinted with high grade UV tinting, no airbubbles (did a fantastic job). Interior is good for its age, carpet is clean, clean, clean, headliner is great too! All instruments work on the dash, so do interior lights. THE BAD: While I was driving home in April the car slowly came to a stop and now it randomly is fussy when put in gear. I was told it was a shift solenid by my mechanic but I dont know the exact reason so I'm just going to go ahead and say the transmission died. It goes through all gears fine but when you put in drive and attempt to take off, all the car does it rev, no movement. It does this in all gears (that's why it could be the solenoid). It still starts fine and runs but it doesnt move. I would suggest replacing the timing chain because I havent done it in a very long time. Small hairline crack in windshield (not a visual problem at all). Two small cracks in the dash thanks to the evil west sun, covered in a small amount of tape to prevent further cracking. Windshield wiper column on steering wheel fell off (easy fix). Dings and small dents all around the car, typical for an 18 year old car. No major damage I can see. Radio antenna was torn off but I put a temporary one on that seems to work. As I mentioned earier the paint is okay but is faded in some spots due to a lousy repaint by morons (no peeling). Leaks a bit of oil here and there (I keep a rag on my driveway), transmission also leaks fluid but not too much. This car was smoked in for a very short time and the idiot that did it was a butterfingers and dropped his cigarette on my seat which burned a few tiny holes (This car does NOT smell like smoke). Drivers seat torn so I put a cover on it, passenger seat fine but they come in 2-packs so I covered that one too. Drivers window is sometimes hard to roll down (not sure why?) Needs new front tires (bald). Seat belt on drivers side is frayed for some reason and occasionally sticks. Front bearings need to be replaced at some point, I replaced one of them. Most of the repairs needed are small little issues but I would like a new car. In other words this is a typical old Geo, amazingly NO rust on the underbody or panels, there is some oil build-up though. The registration is good until 2012 but the inspection expired in April 2011 after it quit working so I couldnt update it, fix the transmission and it will pass. Overall if you fix the strange issue this car has it will make a good high MPG car for around town or more! EXTRAS: Extra left taillight I purchased but never got to install, 3 of the original hubcaps (someone stole the forth), Geo Metro Hanes repair manual, extra exterior METRO decals. OVERVIEW: I trust you to read this article and make an intelligent decision, this is a used vehicle so it is not perfect. Since I have NO clue what's wrong with the transmission you must tow it, pick-up only, no shipping. $100 deposit by PayPal within 48 hours of auction end and the rest to be paid in CASH upon pickup. NO checks or money orders please. Clear Texas title in my name, plates come with the car. Have a nice day :)On Jul-21-11 at 10:43:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: I forgot to add that the trunk opens fine but it needs new struts, and the passeneger door only opens from the inside because someone who was hired to repair the door lock did the opposite. Still just little things that really don't matter but I'm an honest seller and want this car to go to a good home :)On Jul-21-11 at 13:10:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Added a new pic of the drivers interior door space, shows where the seatbelt kept getting caught in the door, same thing on the interior door. On Jul-25-11 at 13:24:14 PDT, seller added the following information: I found the original set of keys today, will get both keys with the car, thanks :)
