From the factory, there were just two options that didn't make it on this premium pocket rocket; automatic transmission and a cassette player. The optional (LS only) 6-speed manual was chosen in lieu of the girly tranny and the base radio got the boot to make way for a powerful Bose CD sound system. "Loaded" in this case includes (among many other things) the sport suspension, a limited slip differential and anti-lock brakes which made this canyon-carver the most track worthy Miata you could buy. And, with a documented 72,397 original miles, this Miata is the finest low mileage Miata on the market today. Period. Of course for our new car buyer in 2001, all this was not enough and before he or she left the dealership a front air dam, side sills and a chrome fuel door were added. Shortly thereafter, this person's credit card balance inflated significantly with the purchase of a Racing Beat Type II rear wing and bezels for the head and tail lights. These items match the factory ground effects perfectly and gives this near-flawless roadster an aggressive look unlike any Miata you've ever seen. As you'll see further down, our Miata buyer wouldn't be satisfied until all of his credit cards were maxed out but the buyer today needs to spend nothing extra to get a body in pristine condition. The paint too is perfectly brilliant and this is one of those cars that invites close scrutiny because of its near complete absence of flaws. This Miata is that good. Body panels line up perfectly, exterior trim is spectacular, all glass is chip free and the projector beam head lights (and all other lights) work exactly as they should. The front air dam and head light bezels combine to give the trademark Mazda grin some edge. Our Miata strikes a classic pose to show off its perfectly smooth body, looking down the side. The LS package included these handsome 16-inch alloy wheels with locks and your Miata will not need tires for quite some time. (ultra-high-performance Potenza RE760 Sport 205/45R16) This is a roadster of course and that means the top goes down and there's room for just two. Again, we see perfect panel alignment, stunning paint and top quality befitting a car that has averaged just over 7,000 miles a year since new. Actually, in person it looks even better; this Miata has the look, feel and function of a brand new car. Look as close as you wish for as long as you want. This MX-5 is in top condition from the tip of its unblemished nose to the back of its undamaged rear. The body has not touched anything except the sun (occasionally) and the inside of a garage. (most of the time) If you've never driven a Miata, you're in for a real treat. If you value precise handling and razor sharp steering, that is; the term "go-cart" is often used to describe a Miata's cornering prowess and just a few quick turns will have you searching for a similar adjective. The way this car attacks a mountain road simply must be experienced to be believed and is part of the reason Miata owners the world over praise this car's incredible handling. Check out the wind blocker between the headrests/roll hoops. It has an integral pouch and helps reduce wind buffeting for bouffant-safe top down motoring. Dark tint helps keep things cool in the summer and the factory ground effects keep your Miata looking cool all the time. The Miata is among just a handful of modern sports cars that gets the cockpit right for the business of serious driving. A proper 3-spoke Nardi steering wheel is wrapped in leather, of course, as is the ultra short throw 6-speed shifter. The dead pedal is where it's supposed to be and clutch/brake/accelerator placement is just right for some fancy heel-and-toe footwork. The good news is, this LS level, leather lined cabin is comfy no matter what you happen to be doing, whether the car is moving or not. You're not going to find a rip, tear or anything stupid in here.
