Collector quality 2004 torch red Mach 1. 8,7xx miles. Almost new! No modifications and all original, including original battery. On original 17" Heritage rims and Goodyear Eagles (these have about 7,500 miles on them). Keep as original collector or have nearly new car to build an awesome street car. Kept garaged and covered. Adult owned only. Clear title, not smoked in. Car history report is clear. Build date March 31, 2004. All docs, including original window sticker. This low mile survivor is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. **I am confident my reserve is set lower than any comparable low mile Mach 1 for sale in the country right now** Paint is near flawless. Since most discriminating ebay bidders have to trust the description and pictures, I will try to address any possible concerns. There is a tiny paint chip on the L front hood--smaller than 1/2 the size of my pinkie fingernail. I will try to add a photo of this later. There is a small wrinkle and bubble on the front hood stripe. This is noticeable only up close, but I have a new, oem style replacement that goes to the car buyer. These are ticky tack issues, but just being respectful to the bidder. Finally, please don't bid just because you're bored or having fun. This is a real car looking for real bidders. It's not fair to those who are legitimately interested--I have a very fair reserve on the car, so I don't need you to help me "bid it up." After a favorable reception, the Team got the green light to build the Mach 1 as a limited edition 2003 model. Ford handed off the design to an outfit called the "Living Legends" group. This Dearborn, Mich., group was responsible for the revised Thunderbird and also the GT40 sports car. The idea was simple: take some of the most memorable Ford vehicles of the past and recreate them for modern day consumption. Maintain the style and performance that made each particular model a legend, but do it in a way that not only pays homage to the original, but improves upon it as well. The Mach 1 was reborn in 2003 for a two-year run after a 25 year hiatus. The '03-'04 is styled after the original 1969 Mach 1, using side air scoops, a rear deck wing and the trademark shaker hood. In an intentional throwback, flat black is the color of choice for the external styling. The original Mach 1 introduced the "shaker hood" in Mustangs. According to the Mustang team, the new scoop was made on the same tooling as the '60s original. The scoop is a ram air model, channeling fresh air directly to the intake runners, increasing the breathing and optimizing intake turbulence for improved power and torque. Like the original, the '03-'04 Mach 1 was designed for speed versus touring; many luxury items that would have added weight i.e., heated seats, an optional navigation system, a sunroof, etc. were not offered in the Mach 1. Keeping in tune with performance purposes, a convertible which would have added performance hampering weight was not produced; a 2 door coupe was the only body style available with the Mach 1 trim. In the end the Mach 1 is approximately 100 lbs lighter than the GT Coupe. Mustangs have always thrived on an amazing "power per dollar ratio." Whereas the 1969 Mach 1 came with a 250-horsepower 351-cubic-inch V-8 as standard equipment, and offered an optional 320-horse 390 V-8, as well as 335- and 360-horse 428s, the '03-'04 Mach arrived in just one strength: a normally aspirated, 32-valve, DOHC 4.6-liter V-8 that formerly powered the 2001 SVT Cobra. The '03-'04 Mach posts 305 bhp at 5800 rpm and 320 lb.-ft. of torque at 4200 rpm. The HP is down from the 2001 Cobra's 320. The reason is that Ford changed several engine pieces to give the Mach 1 better torque at lower engine speeds, at the sacrifice of peak horsepower. The biggest change is to the higher-flow cylinder heads, which were fitted with intake cams from Ford's 5.4-liter V-8. Different exhaust cams were also added along with a new set of exhaust manifolds matched to the cylinder heads. So while the horsepower number may not look as good as the Cobra's, the Mach 1 has gained 3 lb.-ft. of torque that peaks at a much lower 4000 rpm compared with 4750 for the 2001 Cobra. In other words, Ford improved chances at the highly coveted stoplight drag wars. Production: The factory was set to build 7,500 units in 2003, with about 5900 orders posted by January, 2003. The actual production run was 9,652 units in 2003 and 7,182 units in 2004 (1,259 produced in Torch Red). On Jul-16-11 at 11:32:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I spent today claybar-ing and polishing the car with Zaino. Don't ask me why, since the car might be sold in 3 days--just pride of ownership and want the buyer to have confidence in what they are getting. I am posting pics of the hood chip--it's smaller than I remember, like 2mm in size. I am posting close ups of the rims/tires---no rim rash whatsoever. Don't wait on this one! I guarantee you will regret it! On Jul-16-11 at 11:35:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Video added--starts right up. No smoke, smooth idle.
