I've seen it, I drove it and it really is a brand new 2000 Mustang GT convertible. Put aside for a minute that this spectaclar car has averaged barely one mile-and-a-half a day; this is an ideally equipped GT convertible with a 5-speed manual transmission. It has leather, Convenience Group, the bigger tire and wheel package and a 10-speaker/amplifier/subwoofer Mach 460 sound system. In fact, this Mustang has every option available except the engine block heater. Bottom line: it's a brand new Ford Mustang GT convertible . . . that was built eleven years ago. Why we chose this car: We chose it because a car built a decade ago should have well over 100,000 miles. This one has 6,300 and it looks, feels and functions exactly like a brand new Mustang GT. This car stickered north of 27 large in 2000 and 20,224 buyers happily ponied up that year so they could put the top down and hear more clearly the legendary small block Ford exhaust note. With a manual transmission that sound is intoxicating but if you prefer, you can substitute the 4.6 liter V8's music for that created, equalized and amplified by the Mach 460 sound system. Either way, you'll be enjoying it coddled in sport leather seats, surrounded by every creature comfort and power doo-dad Ford offered that year. By the way; this 2000 Ford Mustang GT convertible has only 6,301 miles. That is why we chose it. Viva Las Vegas Automotive Boot Camp: Our 130 point inspection found a brand new Mustang GT convertible that, despite its low mileage, was regularly serviced and very well taken care of. Clean, topped off fluids, great rubber and nary a flaw to be found. Okay, I went and looked again and it does have a wheel scrape so minor I missed it before and there may be a pin-head size chip in few places. (full disclosure for the nit-pickers/people that talk a lot but never buy) This thing is so nice I'm going to say it anyway; it's near perfect. When I worked at Ford years ago, we routinely delivered new cars to ecstatic customers that did not look as good as this car does today. We couldn't just do nothing so, we wiped down an already spotless car, went through the motions of vacuuming an interior with no dust or even a single spec of lint, put it on a lift and looked for something to do to the undercarriage. That was a waste of time because everything underneath was dry and pristine - the engine bay too, was perfect. After a while we just gave it up and took these magazine quality pictures and had some fun driving fast doing an HD video. It's hard labor here at Viva Las Vegas Autos but there simply is no easy way to clean an already clean car. Research/background, what was said about the Mustang GT when new, what people are saying now: The Mustang GT's potent combination of sizzling performance, lots of amenities and drop-dead good looks has made it a sales leader for nearly half a century. Model year 2000 was no exception as America's favorite pony was in its second year following a major facelift in 1999. Characterized as Ford's "New Edge" design, sharper lines, larger wheel openings and bigger side scoop ornamentation got the most attention but underneath, the Mustang GT was still the same thoroughbred. Thicker sway bars, beefier springs and exclusive items like the Quadra-Shock rear suspension separated the GT from its plebeian six cylinder stable mate but it was the ferocious 4.6 liter V8 that captured the hearts of enthusiasts. This SOHC screamer likes to spin and it can slingshot this drop-top to 60 MPH in six seconds flat. People have loved the Mustang for a long time. You're going to love this Mustang for a long time, too. A V8 convertible with a manual transmission is really cool but this GT rag-top has just 6,300 miles on its odometer. How cool is that? This Mustang GT convertible has the bigger tire and wheel package. Twin exhaust and a pretty nice rear end too. Don't want to pay 30 large for a new GT convertible? Don't worry, bid like crazy. The auction probably won't get that high. Will it? The Mustang is one of the few convertibles that looks just as hot with the top up. The sport leather interior gets a two-tone treatment on the dash and steering wheel.
