This vintage Honda CB500 was one of the first production Honda 500 four's shipped to the U.S. The manufacture date is 3/71. If the VIN # has any correlation to the production schedule, then this is the 863 Honda CB500 produced !! My father placed a pre-production order for this bike from Fayette County Honda in Uniontown, Pennsylvania ( I have the original dealer sticker.) I drove this bike home from the dealership for him when it arrived in the Spring of 1971. My father only rode it during the summer months for a number of years, then lost interest. It remained in his garage thru the 80's and 90's. I brought the bike to Michigan in 1998 with the intention of getting back into motorcycling, but with three young children, that never happened. I have kept the bike covered in a heated garage since. MAINTENANCE HISTORY : ** Because of a pinhole fuel leak, the fuel tank was repaired, painted and sealed in 1998 ** OEM front fork boots 1999 ** New chain 2005 ** Carbs cleaned and complete tune-up 2005 Bike runs, but could use a fresh tune-up. This bike is 99% original. The 1% that is not original (besides the paint) are the mirrors, handlebar grips, front fork boots, tires, chain and battery. No rust, dings or dents !! This is a near prefect 1970's vintage Honda !! Also included in this sale is the original Pennsylvania license plate, 2 Clymer maintenance manuals and also original Honda CB500 factory sales brochures.
