It appears that the 73, 761 miles are the original miles (although there is no way of confirming this). The condition of the car is much too good for the speedometer to have rolled over. The engine code confirms that the engine is a 351 Windsor, built in 1969 and is the correct engine for this vehicle. This Mustang has the original factory hood scoop, factory quick-fill (flip open) gas cap and dash board emblem of the factory-built Mach I. This vehicle is part of my late father’s collection of vintage automobiles, but has not been restored. We have refurbished this automobile to make it a reliable and safe driver (as much as 1969 automobile can be). It was originally purchased by my father about 15 years ago and has been stored in a warehouse since. The car was painted a few years ago in a beautiful Silver Jade Poly (a factory color), but the paint, while nice and shiny, is not restoration quality. There are slight ripples on some of the panels, several small imperfections and a few parking lot dings that have been repaired. The chrome trim is in good shape, however a few parts have some small dings. All chrome trim is readily available though aftermarket Mustang suppliers. During preparation for sale, we replaced the old carburetor (as well as all fuel lines and filters); carpet; anti-sway bar bushings; power steering hoses, speedometer cable, oil pressure/water temperature senders and fuel sender. All AC hoses have been replaced and the system converted to EPA compliant 134A. The car has been also been tuned and timed. The car also has mufflers with little restriction (may be Flowmasters or similar type). With all the work, this car cannot be considered a full restoration by any means, however it still turns heads everywhere we go. We had several folks stop and comment on the car's nice condition as we were taking pictures for this ad. The white interior is complete, very clean and in good original condition. There is new factory-style black carpet. The front seat backs were missing and have been replaced with carpet-covered panels which match the new carpet. We recently found the original seat backs are readily available and we have a source for the new owner. Most of the interior plastic is in good shape, as is the headliner, however the two front windshield pillar covers (thin plastic pieces) have some cracks. These are readily available as are most components on this car through aftermarket suppliers. The AM/FM radio and windshield washer, as well as all interior switches and electronics appear to function properly (including gauges, turn signals, wipers, blower fan, AC controls, emergency signal, etc). The only exception is the the factory clock. Like many Mustangs of this vintage it does not function. Replacement clocks do occasionally appear on e-bay and I'm sure there is someone out there repairing them. Factory seat belts are included in the front and back. The windshield has a small semicircular scratch under the wiper blades (does not effect driver's vision) and the rear deck glass has some small scratches as well. It is possible that a professional might be able to remove these scratches with buffing compound. There is no apparent rust anywhere on the vehicle and the bottom of the car has been coated with black, rubberized undercoating to prevent rust and add soundproofing. We were told the car was originally titled in Florida and has spent it’s life here (where we don’t put salt on the roads during the winter). If you’re looking for a Mach I that turns heads and won’t cost you a fortune to restore, this car is perfect for you. It’s a great starting point for a full restoration or you can use it as is for an exciting, daily driver. Please understand, because of the age of this vehicle, and because we have not rebuilt the engine or drive train, we cannot guarantee the condition or the reliability of the automobile. This vehicle is offered AS IS/WHERE IS with no guarantees of any kind. The buyer must arrange for all shipping and it must be picked up at our location in St. Petersburg, Florida. Certified check or wire funds are acceptable. Buyer is responsible for all transfer fees. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will be happy to post the answer.
