Vehicle Detail
1986 535i white with automatic transmission, great daily driver. New tires, new battery, front suspension just redone. No leaks. Interior shows some wear. Paint is in great shape, previous owner for most of car's life always kept a coat of wax on and it shows. A few small rust spots under rear bumper. Mileage shows 255k but odometer stopped a couple of months back. We bought the car last fall as a solid and reliable replacement when my son's hand-me-down Volvo gave up the ghost. Got it from the second owner who was a car buff and would drive it to work occasionally, always parking in the "safe zone" at the edge of the parking lot where we work. He had just refurbished the front suspension. After buying it, we added a few items that were needed (tires, battery, and stop that annoying oil weep). I had planned to keep it for myself now that son is graduated and moving to NYC where he doesnt need a car, and daughter isnt taking it with her to school. But we have too many vehicles and need to simplify, so its a great opportunity for someone else now. Certified checks must be confirmed by issuing bank, and personal checks wait to clear. Cash works with no delay! Buyer pickup only, no delivery. Also click on "see other items above" or search on "2000 Porsche only 9350 miles" to see another car we have listed on here. Also have a pristine 1995 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight with only 61,000 miles, search autotrader for details. Not a dealer, just dont need all these cars! Recent inquiries and answers below: Dear ensvaughn, Does AC, computer, and cruise control all work? Why is the middle air vent sticking out? Thanks in advance, very nice car...may make offer. Response: Thanks for the inquiry. -cruise control works. -son was driving car this past year in ohio, so I focused mainly on the heat being correct, and had the servo which opens and closes the fresh air door repaired. (pretty cold when it doesnt close!) -air does not work presently, i have not had it checked, so don’t know if it’s a compressor sr something else. -As far the computer, the top unit usually does a "check alert" and turns off when I press the check button, but I havent checked beyond that. -the middle air vent is fine. i noticed the same in photo, but its just the angle that it was tilted at. Dear ensvaughn, Thanks for the prompt response. You may want to post these questions. Also, does it have any idling issues? Response: Idles fine. Was there something in particular you were concerned about, and I'll listen for it to be sure. Dear ensvaughn, What would this car need before put on road to Michigan? What is your bottom dollar for the car? Response: Thanks for the inquiry. After we bought the car last October, our son drove it back and forth to school in northern OH for the duration of his senior year. He made that trip (approximately 1100 miles round trip) about 3 or 4 times without incident. Driving from OH to NYC in March though, he needed a new ignition coil in PA. So while I can’t offer any sort of guarantee or warranty, my experience is that the car is roadworthy, but there can be the occasional item fail (like the coil) as you'd expect in a 25-year old car. It passed the NC safety inspection in October. I should mention the air conditioner doesn’t blow cold, and haven’t had it looked at. We did have the heat fixed though, which was pretty critical for Ohio in winter. The left rear passenger window doesn’t operate, but I think it’s the switch and not the motor. Two new tires put on in the winter. Bottom price is $2400. I need to confirm a certified check with the issuing bank, and a personal check needs to clear. Will take cash and buyer to my bank to notarize the title. Hope that helps.
