Vehicle Detail
Rare, Very Low Mileage, 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Coupe If you have ever wanted to own an antique American luxury car, but were afraid to purchase one with lots of miles, this is the Cadillac for you! This garage kept Cadillac is one of the rare Fleetwood Brougham Coupes and has less than 18,000 miles! I am only the second owner of the car and I personally know the original owner who bought it in 1985. I have the original odometer disclosure and other related bill of sale paperwork. I even have the original window sticker. This Cadillac is currently registered as an antique vehicle in Pennsylvania. The color of the Cadillac is Academy Gray with Gray leather interior. The paint is in great condition with no scratches or dings; the chrome is bright and there are no dents or scratches in it either. The leather seats are in excellent condition, as is the carpeting. As with most Cadillacs of the era, it is very well equipped with the famous Cadillac power accessories. Another bonus to this vehicle is that EVERY power accessory, be it the power windows, locks, seats, antenna, automatic headlights, and even the automatic level control all work. The air-conditioning system with automatic climate control works flawlessly. Before I go too much farther describing this Cadillac, I want to point out an extremely important advantage to this particular one. Some people are afraid of the HT-4100 engine that Cadillac produced. In the early models manufactured from 1982 - early 1985, they could be problematic. However, this particular Cadillac was produced in mid-1985 and has the revised HT-4100 engine. That means, while the earlier ones had certain issues, this engine is unaffected. In fact, as you can see in one of the photos, I have scanned the letter received from Cadillac that states, "Records available to Cadillac Motor Car Division indicate you are the owner of a mid-year production 1985... Fleetwood... equipped with a 4.1 liter V-8 (HT4100) engine. A special policy to minimize the risk of internal engine coolant leaks was recently announced to owners of earlier model Cadillacs which also used the 4.1 liter V-8 engine. Production changes were made before your car was built, so your 4.1 liter V-8 engine does not require the Basic Dealer Services provided by this Special Policy." Therefore, you can be confident that when you purchase this low-mileage Cadillac, you are not purchasing one with one of the earlier, potentially troublesome HT-4100 engines. In fact, this engine has performed flawlessly and is essentially brand-new, given the very low mileage. What have I done to the vehicle since I have owned it? I had it inspected when it was registered. I have installed 4 brand-new Firestone FR380 whitewall tires which carry the full Firestone warranty. I also had the headliner replaced. As is typical with most cars that are 26 years old, the headliner no longer was attached. I took it to a shop who had the original Cadillac headliner fabric. I had the headliner replaced and all of the associated fabric-covered roof pieces and sun visors redone. Have I had any mechanical problems or difficulties? None whatsoever! In fact, as I stated above, all of the power accessories, climate control system, fuel / trip computer, and major mechanical systems work. Even the original factory radio works, however, the vacuum florescent display seems to no longer light up portions of some of the numbers. However, it is rare to find these vehicles with their original "Symphony Sound" radio/tape deck which is important because the knobs are paneled in the same "wood" as the rest of the vehicle. Some other notable features are that the car was treated with the Rusty Jones system. For those of you who do not know, the Rusty Jones system was a rust-proofing system that was applied to the frame and other major metal components to prevent rust and other damage. Each year, the system was inspected and reapplied where necessary. As noted, the Cadillac was garage kept but of greater importance, the Mayor I bought it from did not drive the car in the snow and NEVER took it our after the first bit of salt had been applied to the roadways. You can clearly see in the pictures there is no rust on the body or chrome. The padded cabriolet roof is also in fantastic shape. There are no tears in the roof or damage to the vinyl. Another important thing to note is that all of the plastic quarter panels between the metal body and the large chrome tail lamps are in excellent shape and are not broken. Try and find that with this vintage Cadillac. As I previously noted, even some of the unique accessories on this Cadillac still function perfectly. This includes the automatic level control. No matter how many people are in the backseat, or how much weight is in the trunk, the automatic "Level Ride" system will adjust the rear shocks to make sure your Cadillac rides level. This Cadillac also has a factory-installed theft-deterrent system with an ignition cut-out. The climate control system can also display the outside temperature. In addition to the original owner's manual that you will receive, along with all other relevant paperwork, you will also receive the original "Cadillac Gold Keys." These are 24-karat gold plated keys that were given to the Mayor at the time of delivery. There is also a second set of standard silver-colored keys. If I have forgotten anything, or if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.On Jul-05-11 at 16:45:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Rare, Very Low Mileage, 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Coupe UPDATES: I've had some questions, so here is some more information. The vehicle was aligned when the tires were installed in November, 2010. It has traveled about 1800 miles on the new tires and alignment. The exhaust system has been totally replaced. It appears to be stainless steel, since I understand these models were prone to having rusted exhausts. Bumperettes on rear bumper can be removed with one bolt; they were not bolted into the bumper but used a strap so should leave no damage to rear bumper. All fiber optic light indicators front and rear work. If you have ever wanted to own an antique American luxury car, but were afraid to purchase one with lots of miles, this is the Cadillac for you!
