Vehicle Detail
This is a 1969 MGB Roadster that could use a new owner who would use it once in awhile. Over the last thirty years the car has seen only occaisional use each year. The rest of the time it sat in dry storage, but not heated. It has a twenty year old paint job that was budget priced at the time as I was a struggling new businessman. Consequently it could use a more appropriate paint job and some detailing. One of the heater hoses leaked and caused surface rust up by the heater and bulkhead. The trunk is solid with some surface rust. The front and rear valances have chipped paint at the bottom edges. There is a pencil sized hole in the driver's floor where it turns up.There is no bubbling on the top seams and the rockers, dog legs, rocker panels and above the wheel arches are rust free.I have inspected under the car and found nothing of any issue. The seats are excellent, the rugs marginal and the soft top passable.I redid the brake cylinders and slave cylinder and removed and drained the gas tank as we did not use the car last year. It has current collectors car plates. I did a two hundred mile return trip in it on the weekend and it ran fine. 20 lbs oil pressure at idle hot and fifty at speed. I had some softness in the brake petal which may be more my lack of skill in bleeding the brakes and the throttle cable was binding marginally. I will address both these issues before the car sells. Suspension and front end are excellent. A little vibration from the front right wheel at 70 but I think this is a balancing issue. The wire wheels are decent and the tires are good to excellent. It burns and leaks no oil. Splines are good withno slack. The exhaust is solid. The chrome is pretty decent. The car has the factory hardtop (needs quarter glass plexiglass replaced as it is crazed). Has a period luggage rack and period Lucas driving lights. The mileage may be original but I would not guarantee it.We have had Austin Healeys, Etypes and a Tiger in the time we owned the MG and consequently did not drive it often simply as a time factor. This vehicle would make a pretty good driving restoration. There may be other issues that I have not noticed but at the very least this is a reasonable MG to invest some time and money in.I have set the reserve at a reasonable level.
