Vehicle Detail

up for bid is a two owner car that hasnt seen salt or snow of new england winters, and it shows. it has a 1970 455- 4 bolt main block . this block was V.I.N 'd to a 1970 grand prix , it has the #'s matching 64 heads. for those that dont know this is Pontiacs' only high compression 455 ever made. it also identical to the famed 1970 GTO 455 ram air 3 . the engine has about 3,000 miles on it and is freshly rebuilt . it is mated to a super T -10 4 speed and has a brand new rear end in it. the rear end ration is 3:73 to 1 ratio with a 29 inch tall tires it hits the ground at a 3:55 to 1 ratio. it also has a new super cool raditator . tires are 98% brakes are 90% and are 4 wheel disc brakes . this is WS-6 car . it has the smoked tail lights. a honest estimate of how the car is mechanically it is in very good shape. the car had the 301 v-8 from the factory and its 4 -speed has the higher ratio 1st gear than the 400 cars ( this kinda made up for the 301's lack of power and pontiac did what they could to make up for it) if i were to keep the car i would invest in another super T10 lowered ratio 4-speed that was new ($1200) or completely upgrade with a termec 6 speed ($4300.00) this would make the car quicker as it is the car is a rocket. THE BAD : as with all cars that age there isnt any of them that dont need work , i am a honest guy, i feel honesty gets you further than BS'in. so with that said the interior shows its age and is in need of being redone id say it needs a carpet , front bucket seats redone and a headliner put in and the center counsoles lid to be mint ., the dash had been done prior to me buying the car and is mint . the only other issue i see is the paint its a classic "20 footer" the person that owned it before me was a big dummy , they didnt take the time to make the paint right , id say to make it a mint paint you need to re-do it , it has some water spots to it ( water was in the gun whoever shot it) all in all the car is very good mechanically and is a very solid base for a car to build from . not much investment would make this car a envy of any cruise night. a honest estimates of interior work is in the range of 1200.00 for a pro to do it all and less if you are mechanically inclined and the paint is dependant on who you get to do it. PLEASE , DO NOT BID HIGHER IN A ATTEMPT TO LOW BALL ME IN PERSON. IT AINT HAPPENING THE LAST TWO PEOPLE TRIED AND IM NOT ACCEPTING ANY THING LESS THAN WHAT YOU BID. ITS ONLY FAIR TO THOSE UNDER YOUR BID TO BE THIS WAY. if you have any questions feel free to email me ill answer honestly to them all .......good luck On Jun-22-11 at 13:22:23 PDT, seller added the following information: id like to add a few specifications about the engine : the pontiac 455 is arguably the biggest displacement in such a compact block, this is done by adding stroke to the engine, the 455 has the longest connecting rod in the business , in fact to equal it you would need a 540 cubic inch big block chevy. all this is done in a block the size of a 327 cubic inch chevy. the specifics are as follows : # 64 heads, 2.11/1.77 valves,87 cc chamber, 1.50 roller rockers ,gm 50,000 volt distributor thats set up to be all in instantly , there is no vaccum advance. intial timing is@ 12 degrees and total timing is@ 37 degrees. it has a barry grant demon 850 CFM carburator,a performer intake forged rotating assembly thats staunt enough to take on a 100 hp shot of nitrous, ( i wouldnt without work to the carb first) headman shorty headers into a new exhaust that has flowmaster s. it also has Crowers version of the Ram Air IV cam #60919, intake duration 231, exhaust 240, intake center line @106 degrees and lobe centerline @112 degrees. lifts are :.470 each side @ the cam and .704 at the valve. be prepared to run your favorite octane booster, it is a 10.5/1 commpression ratio engine and unless under ideal loads it can ping with 93 octane. it runs cool with the super cool radiator does a great job providing heat reliefOn Jun-22-11 at 13:51:17 PDT, seller added the following information: honest estimates of power , although not dynoed the engine from the factory floor was rated @370 horse and 500 foot pounds of torque. granted in the later days of muscle car hp ratings were bumped up as they sold cars. but dont forget this engine is in the prime year of 1970 and 1969 and 1970 are the pinnacle years for performance based engines. i used a program online putting in data of engine specs and the data came back to me as follows : 475 horse @ 5000 rpm and 541 ft pounds of torque @ 3250 rpm. i can tell you i feel as if these are at least power figures cause the car is thunderbolt. i do beleive the torque numbers are right on. and i feel as if the horse power numbers are closeOn Jun-26-11 at 06:22:38 PDT, seller added the following information: ill be givng a lot of extra parts with the car too, a a/c compressor, condensor, brand new hood felt, #'s matching intake to the 455, 8 new spark plug wires, and a starter if i can find it
