Vehicle Detail
Please read the entire description carefully including the bidding guidelines! There are lots of pics so give them time to load. Back in the 60's, the famous Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak Michigan didn't have a '67 GTO drag car but if they did this is what it may have looked like! I bought this '67 Tempest post coupe back in '08 right here on ebay. A relatively rust free low mileage Missouri barn find that was stored since 1979. ENGINE-DRIVETRAIN-STEERING-SUSPENSION-BRAKES: Currently their are well under 500 miles on the engine. .030 over 400 ('75 block) Crower 60916 cam (Ram Air IV clone......nice lope at idle but nothing radical) Lunati hyd. lifters Melling 60 psi high volume oil pump .030/.030 stock crank with Sealed Power rod & main bearings stock resized rods with new ARP bolts Best gasket Graphtite rear main seal Cloyes timing set HEI distributor rebuilt & recurved by Bob Davis Distributors Q-jet rebuilt & recalibrated by Cliff Ruggles 4 tube Hooker Headers (fit like a glove with no leaks) 1970 #11 small valve heads using Crower 68404 dual valve springs (approx. 8.5 compression ratio so it runs on 87 octane pump gas) Converted to screw in BBC studs making valvetrain fully adjustable 2 1/2" exhaust with H-pipe thru Thrush mufflers Rebuilt 8.2" 10 bolt posi......3.36 ratio ( a VERY slight hum on deceleration which I attribute to the Yukon brand gear set) Everything inside differential is new with original rebuilt cone type posi unit. Original 1967 GTO PX code TH400 with mild shift kit and 3K RPM stall converter. Shifts firm not harsh and has blood red fluid. Balanced driveline with new U-joints. Aluminum radiator (last pic shows gauge readings at 2700 RPM cruise on a 91 degree day!) High torque mini stater All new belts, hoses, heater core, water pump, etc. New ball joints, springs, shocks, suspension bushings & steering components. '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee 12.7:1 quick ratio steering gear box.....a tight 2.5 turns lock to lock eliminating the stock 60's "forever" steering feel. Rebuilt alternator with new external regulator. Later model A-body front power disc brakes with new calipers, pads and master cylinder. BODY & PAINT: BC/CC in Spring 2010 using all Dupont products. The body was not stripped to bare metal as it still wore it's original faded paint so it was cleaned, scuffed and sealed before any bodywork was started. The paint is deep and glossy and looks great close up as it does from far away. All original body panels with the exception of lower RH quarter patch panel, partial trunk floor and driver side floor pan. These areas were not all rotted out but had some pinholes and was soft so they were replaced. A '67 GTO NOS rear taillight panel was also used. New fuel tank & sender. Solid original frame. This was not a frame off resto......the underside of the car was VERY clean and only had a spattering of light undercoating on the frame and floorpans so a few coats of black epoxy was applied. New windshield all other glass is original. All new weatherstripping. Rebuilt hood & door hinges. All graphics are made of fade resistant high quality vinyl. Correct first year "tall" hood tach with 5100 rpm redline. INTERIOR: Original '68 GTO front bucket seats in good condition. They were just cleaned up and redyed SEM Satin Black. Other than repop door panels and new carpet the rest of the interior is original and in great shape too so it was cleaned and redyed. The seat belts are original to the car and gold in color because after they were cleaned they looked mint and I didn't have the heart to redye them black so I left them alone. New firewall pad along with a thermal heat/sound barrier (similar to Dynamat) applied to the floorpans from front to back. Made a tremendous difference in heat and sound control. Original '67 console with a HURST Promatic shifter that looks downright factory! TIRES & WHEELS: Brand new 235/60/15 redline radials from Diamondback Classics. Cragar Eliminator polished aluminum rims.......these are made to resemble the old style HURST wheels. Please keep in mind......this is by no means a show car but an above average driver that was built to drive and enjoy. The trim has been stripped and polished but has a few dings here and there. Back bumper is a new repop with working backup lights but the front is an older rechromed original. The chrome is nice but far from perfect. The stock AM radio is inoperative as is the in dash Rally clock. There is also a slight oil drip from the back of the pan. This began not long after initial start up and I am not sure if the rear main seal has rotated a bit or it's a pan gasket issue. This is by no means any kind of major leak but it needs to be mentioned. The inspection cover catches the drip so it's not like oil is being flung all over as you drive. The car drives down the road straight and smooth with NO rattles or squeaks. It is as smooth and stable at 40 as it is at 70 and with the floor heat & noise barrier under the carpet it's comfortable to ride in even on a hot day. All exterior and interior lights function as they should. This is a car you can drive and enjoy right now as is without dumping money into to make reliable. I've enjoyed it since it's completion but now it's time to move onto something else. Serious bidders only! Don't bid if you do not have the money or have to get permission from your significant other! The winning bid isn't a ticket to come look and then decide if you want to buy......I've provided a honest description of the car and the few issues it has. It isn't perfect so please don't expect it to be. The fine print.... please read: A non-refundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hours after the auction ends. Full payment due within 7 days in cash upon pick up or CERTIFIED bank check which must be verified before car & title are released. If deposit is not received within 24 hours I will consider the winning bid void and offer the car to the next highest bidder. Buyer is responsible to secure their own shipping but I will assist any way I can. Car can be stored for a short time as long as it is paid in full first and a time frame is agreed upon. If you have ZERO FEEDBACK do not bid. Zero feedback bids will be cancelled! If you have less than 10 feedbacks you must contact me before bidding! Previous dealings on ebay have forced me to impose this bidding policy. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. On Jun-25-11 at 14:56:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I want to be upfront about the oil leak mentioned in the above description so there are no surprises to anyone. Here is a pic of the spot on the ground after a long cruise and the car had been parked for about 9 hours.....as you can see it's not really a huge leak but it is a leak none the less that will have to be dealt with eventually. It's unfortunate it leaks at all but the inspection cover does catch the oil and then it drips out of the weep slit on the bottom of the inspection cover.
