Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a unrestored 1941 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4 Door, 5 Passenger sedan. This car has just received an award for Historic Preservation as judged by the Antique Automobile Club of America. This means that they evaluated the car and judged it to be at least 75% original. This is a real 70 year old time capsule that is fun to drive. It reads 34,000 miles but actual is unknown. It is drivable and did the local Memorial Day Parade without a single problem. The exterior is in fantastic condition with shiny paint and trim. The interior is 100% original. The front seat is rough but a simple seat cover does the trick. You can still see the original fabric design. The back seat is in wonderful condition with only the top edge starting to deteriorate. The exterior and frame are rock solid with no apparent repairs. The trunk floor is solid and the spare tire is there. This is a great car as-is or would make an exceptional and unique hot rod! The car has received all new, period correct wiring The engine was replaced with a another '40s unit I had since the original one has a bad bearing which is readily fixable. The replacement engine has been thoroughly gone through and has had a professional valve job and new head gasket plus new motor mounts. It does not smoke at all and starts instantly. The original engine with another manual transmission are included with the car. The original engine is complete with carburetor, starter, generator and water pump and such. I also just replaced the battery and inspected the suspension and brakes. All work fine. The tires are by Allstate and are somewhat old but are not age cracked. I just put in a fuel pump kit, new vacuum advance, points, rotor and distributor cap. This car is ready to drive and enjoy a time gone by. It is a 70 year old car and is not perfect but it is a fantastic time capsule from just before the war. The car is sold as-is just because it is old and for no other reason. It would make a great car to cruise in or to use as a solid foundation for a exceptional hot rod. Note: Connecticut does not offer titles for cars older than 1981. I do have a New Jersey Title from 1999 and 1941 New Jersey license plates, if it helps. It is priced to sell. NADA puts this car in its current condition at $7,000. I will answer all questions as fast as possible and will take any additional pictures requested. The car is available for inspection and I strongly suggest you or someone you trust come over and check it out. It is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this listing if necessary.
