Ok, so I’ve got a great BARN find here! This car has been sitting in storage and has not run for 38-39 years...Until today. We took the car in as part of a trade deal. The way I took pictures is the way it rolled out of the barn. It is a 1966 MG 1100 that had only two owners (one family) since new in 1965. It has an original 61k on it. I have all of the paperwork that came with the car - owners manual, old registrations, vehicle inspection sheets, etc... The car was originally bright red. The story is when the father sold the car to his son in-law, the son didn’t like red on the car and sent it back to the dealership to be sprayed the green color that is on it now. I didn’t want to wash the car and ruin the dust on it, but it may rain and wash some off. The body is incredible shape for a 1966. It doesn’t really show any rust, and there seems to be one dent in the rocker in front of the rear passenger tire. Tires all hold air, but the rear passenger brake is locked up from sitting. Also, the clutch pedal is stuck and probably needs lubrication. The vinyl top seems to be in decent shape, but is peeling in a few tiny areas. There are extra parts in the trunk, which can be seen in the pictures. The spare tire is still under the floor as well. The floor pans, roof, and body panels are virtually rust free - you can see the pans in the pictures. I also have the carpet, door panels, and just about anything else that would have come with the car new. Also, the seats are in VERY good shape for being so old...no rot, big rips or tears. I DO NOT, however have a key for it. I got the ignition to turn with a mailbox key that I had...but it took some jiggling to make it work. The pictures of the hood show that it’s messed up. It isn’t it just had a box sitting on it for 30 some odd years and the cardboard is stuck to it. It’s peeling in a few places but is as solid as can be. As far as the mechanicals go, it all seems to be there, but needs some attention to make it right. We wired up the coil, put some marvel oil down the spark plug holes and let it sit overnight. Then we rolled the motor by hand to get the cylinders coated, cranked it with the starter, put new plugs in it and cranked it again. It fired on the second or third revolution and ran for a few seconds. Everything sounded great! It will not drink gas out of it’s own tank though and needs to be hand fed through the carbs. Carbs, fuel tank, fuel filter, and other things (I’m sure) will need to be gone through before it could drive down the road under it’s own power. We do have the grille coming in tomorrow AM and I’ll show some pics as soon as it gets here. We can get a new title for it right now, we have all of the paperwork required...but the owner says she has it in her attic somewhere and is trying to locate it. I would much rather find the original than have another made up by the state, so I’m going to let her look for a few days. One way or another, this will have a title to go with it. It’s far from being a beauty queen, but this old car has stories behind it! If someone’s interested in these, this is the one to start with. It’s a very solid body, and has a good motor. I know there’s a person out there for this car, but being a car lot...the interest in it is minimal. I want someone who’s going to love this thing put it back together and put it back on the road. I don’t think you’re going to find another one like this anywhere!! It is all original except for the paint. Hope all of this helps, please have a great time bidding and good luck! The 1100 was made from 1962 until 1968. There were around 125,000 of them made and they were great little cars. They were more or less a wagon version of the famous MG Midget. The 1.1l motor did great in these things and pushed them along very well. It is a VERY small car and could probably fit on a snowmobile trailer. This is your opportunity to have this for whatever it brings, it is a NO RESERVE auction. :)
