Vehicle Detail
I have lowered the BUY IT NOW price and the reserve! This car is well worth the BUY IT NOW price. I have inverted 9k in parts alone, not to mention the many hours of work! Car has been mechanically reconditioned with nice upgrades. Two daughters in college, need to let 02 go (breaks my heart). Car runs great! No structural rust, a few cosmetics still need repair - a few rust spots, small crack in windshield, small dent on driver's door. I just installed new carpet. It has new Sparco seats with 4 point harnesses. Dash has cracks typical of cars this old. Headliner in fairly good shape. Mileage is unknown, odo shows 49k, but I'm sure that is at least 149k given that 02s are as old as they are. When I replaced the speedo cable the odometer worked for about 5 miles then quit. I found the car two years ago at a mechanic shop and he was planning to send it to the crusher! I could not let that happen. The owner had abandoned the car. My goal was performance based rather than show room paint etc. Still a great looking car. So right now the car is a good daily driver, engine is strong. Heater needs repair. What I know about the history of the car is that it had a complete restoration about 15 or so years ago. I have repaired rust to the point that it is "acceptable" in appearance, but I was more into the reliability and performance. No rust on the critical areas like the strut mounts, but it did have spare tire area rust (common to 02s) which I repaired with a fiberglass type kit using POR-15 rust treatment. I stripped everything off the motor last summer and put new plugs, wires, alternator, coil, hoses, fuel lines, fan, radiator, etc. So everything is virtually brand new. I rebuilt the carb and just put on a manual choke after this winter because the auto choke was not working properly. Transmission appears to be in good shape. Shifter does need bushings to tighten up play. Other things I have not had time to repair: tachometer and odometer. Speedo works but is inaccurate! I have all records and receipts of everything I have done to the car in the last two years. Shop manuals, some used parts and a few new parts I bought and did not use (water pump, head bolts, seals and gaskets). DVD with hundreds of pics of the work done.
