1958 Oldsmobile Super 88 sedan This Olds spent most of it's life in North Carolina. The car was, or is a J-2 car. It has the tripower manifold in the original Rocket 371 BUT!!! The two end carbs were removed and block-off plates were installed. Some of the J-2 linkage is still there. Otherwise, the car has power steering and a 4-way power seat, radio, clock. The engine starts easily and the trans engages right away. The brakes were redone including new shoes, wheel cylinders, and turning the drums. So, the car runs, drives, and stops. It does have an exhaust leak and I have not inspected the exhaust system. The carb will need rebuilding. The original fuel pump is on the car but had been bypassed. Someone installed an electric pump but it's too high in the front fender to function properly. I think just going back to the original is the best idea. The interior is complete but worn. Both front door glass is cracked and the only window that goes down with ease is the passenger rear. All doors and hood fit very well. The rear bumper took a jit near one end and the trunk would close if I forced it, but it should have the lower lip pulled back about a half inch or so. The others are stiff. The outer body is fairly solid but does have some flaking and bubbles in spots. The gauges and idiot lights all seem to work. The car seems to sit rather high so someone must have replaced the springs at some point. The car does have all the original moldings and is restorable. The rear floors look pretty solid but the driver's side fron floor pan and toe kick are rusted through. So, there's your diamond in the rough! Check my other auctions. Delivery available.
