Vehicle Detail

This is a 1965 Lotus 7 project currently registered in California with a California title. I bought this car in the condition you see (the photographs are current) some years back and found that I never "got around" to putting it together and getting it running. The Lotus has a number of new parts including a new chassis. I do not have the old chassis but I do have the original chassis I.D. plate The car also has a new bonnet, new headlights, new top, new side curtains, new steering wheel, new tail lights, new wiring harness, new Spax coil over shocks, new rear brake shoes, new bonnet badge, and a new grill. The radiator "looks” new or rebuilt. The car has most/all the street equipment and a lot of it is brand new. It has a brand new top (although the top webbing and top bows are used), and brand new side curtains. The headlight shells are also brand new. It has a used, but serviceable, rear tonneau cover. It also has a used heater box to round out the street equipment. The car comes with two sets of fenders (stock width front fenders and both stock width and wide width rear fenders) as shown in the photographs. The car comes with 5 aluminum Lotus wheels but from a Series 4.The car has a 4-cylinder Ford Kent engine that turns freely. I haven't dropped the pan or removed the head so the condition of the engine beyond that is unknown. I haven't installed the shift mechanism for the transmission, so again, I can't offer much additional information. Most of the major parts are there to complete the car, as seen in the photographs. I am sure that there are parts that are missing and/or are not serviceable in their current condition. For example, the wheel cylinders for the rear brakes and the master cylinders for the brakes and clutch are there but will undoubtedly need to be rebuilt or replaced. The dual Weber Carburetors will need to be rebuilt. I don't recall seeing any rubber hoses for the cooling system or heater. The rubber motor mounts will need to be replaced. The rubber seal on the bottom of the windscreen will need to be replaced. The seat cushions are missing. Until the car is put together and running it will be very difficult to account for all the parts 100% (especially the small parts) and I am not representing this project as being 100% complete. I will be happy to inventory the major parts for potential buyers but the car is sold "as is". If you have a question on a particular part please ask before the end of the auction and I will do my best to answer your question or send additional photographs and/or information. Potential buyers are encouraged to inspect the car in person before the auction ends. I want the eventual winning bidder to be happy with their purchase and the way to do that is to resolve any issues before the end of the auction. For the right person this should be a fun project. Shipping and/or crating are at the buyers’ expense. On Jun-12-11 at 19:12:35 PDT, seller added the following information: The chassis used in this Lotus 7 is not the original chassis. The chassis in this Lotus 7 is a new chassis. The chassis was not built by Lotus or Caterham.
