1998 Honda Shadow

Moving to upstate NY and selling my 1998 Honda Shadow 1100VT ACE Tourer. I am the second owner of this bike and have had it for the past 2 1/2 years. First owner took incredible care of the bike and kept all maintenance records. He was a retired police officer from Los Gatos who preferred to ride this bike instead of use a car unless it was raining. Garage kept. He put 81,000 miles, many of them highway, on the bike before I bought it. Bike now has just under 91,000 miles. Mechanic says this should have no problem going to 120k miles, and since most people don't ride their motorcycles more than a few thousand miles each year, this bike has LOTS of life left in it. I took it in for oil changes and maintenance regularly, and have had virtually no problems with it the past 2 1/2 years. Bike starts up first try every time - even when cold. Absolutely no problem with the engine or any other running aspect. Bike runs great. It has that big bike cruiser feel to it, and a big 1100 engine. Very smooth ride. Plenty of power. Side bags were included with bike when it was originally purchased, and they have lots of room - more than you would expect. These have locks so you can keep items in them without worrying about your things getting stolen. It gets close to 40 mpg in the city, and well over 45 mpg highway. I generally get between 110 miles (city) and 140 miles (highway) per tank. There are no major problems with this bike, although it has a few dings and scratches here and there that you would expect from a bike from 98. I took photos of many of these little dings and scrapes to make the listing as accurate as possible. All of these could easily be detailed away if you elected to do so. Even with these small cosmetic things, the bike looks sharp, and I get compliments on it often. People who don't know much about bikes sometimes even ask if it is a harley. I love this bike, and wouldn't be selling it if I wasn't moving to a place with close to 6 months of winter year round. Just isn't worth dragging it across the country for so little riding time.
