Vehicle Detail

1959 Cadillac S&S Coach! A rare and original body Texas driven Cadillac. Custom built by Hess & Eisenhardt, Sayers & Scovill, the most respected coach builders of the era, on a Cadillac commercial chassis. Out of long term Shackleford County, Texas storage after use as a special transport car. Original ID tag in engine compartment and exterior trim as shown. Near perfect body, trim, and brightwork. Original color metallic blue paint exterior repainted 4-5 years ago, and original houndstooth interior. Four new wide whitewall tires, two rear correct heavy duty '59 coach rims, five Cadillac hubcaps to match. Starts, shifts, drives, turns, and brakes quickly, smoothly and quietly. Headlights, turn signals, and horns all worked when tested last week. Fuel gauge has a more positive attitude than it should; it always reads "Full". The clock always reads five minutes after 2 o'clock. Powered by a 5.7 V8 carbureted engine from an '85 Suburban, unknown mileage, runs smooth but a compression test and thorough inspection is strongly recommended; radiator leaks and should be replaced. No functioning A/C or heat. I would locate a correct engine. Unfortunately, the original engine was reportedly thrown away years ago along with the heater core. The car has never been driven in the 5 years I have owned it, nor reportedly by the previous owner. Exterior body, chrome, and glass is in excellent condition and complete. Driver's door glass is damaged. There is hard to spot bubbling in the lower panels, and three small surface rust spots. Remaining glass is undamaged. Very solid frame, all two and a half tons of it. Interior is original as is and needs to be completely replaced. Interior A/C equipment is believed original and is included detached not functioning. Interior original trim is believed to be complete, including front bench seat & two rear folding jump seat frames, and both rear panel frames. Front seat is removed for inspection, the back tilts forward for access behind seat. Front floorboards show repaired rust-through. No other major rust was seen. Excellent candidate for complete restoration to a show car, or to an eye-catching tailgate party vehicle, or to a hearse(?). Or an amazing parts car. More photos available. Call Mark at 713-530-6947 9am-9pm Central. If you leave a message I will get back with you ASAP. Please call with any further questions before bidding. Call first if you have negative feedback. Bidding means you are ready willing and able to take possession of her. Please do not email asking for reserve price, etc. Allow 1-2 days' notice for inspections at the convenience of the facility holding the vehicle. Vehicle must be picked up within 7 days of auction close. I absolutely love this car, had planned to restore it to original. Sad to see her go, but our other project is a vintage ambulance, and we cannot hold on to both of these beauties.
