Our eBay feedback is 100% positive on all vehicle sales from customers all over the world, and is a reflection of our commitment to accurate, complete, and thorough vehicle descriptions/extensive photographs. While we have had comments about the length of our narrative on each vehicle, most serious buyers appreciate the detail and generally make positive comments. However, if you are looking for a brief summary of the vehicle, and do not want to read the detailed description, we recommend that you view the photographs and scroll to the very bottom of the listing where you will find a summary of the car for sale including; make, model, mileage, specifications, etc. Please keep in mind that we will gladly... ? CONDITION SUMMARY / ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This late model, Series 4 Alfa Spider Veloce has just over 33, 000~ documented miles (on both Car Fax and Auto Check). The car has had two owners, the first of who owned the Alfa for 18 years. The cars currently owner, a collector acquired the car in 2009 and since that time, it has been used minimally as a result of his travels to Europe on both business and pleasure. However, both owners' ensured that the car received the care that it deserved and it received regularly scheduled servicing. Within the previous 100 miles, the Alfa Spider Veloce passed the required California safety and smog inspection with no findings. Mechanically, the car is very strong and the fuel injected engine fires immediately and shifts smoothly and without hesitation through all of the gears. The Alfa has very good power with excellent oil pressure and temperature reading when the car is cold and warm. The anti-freeze mix is clear and strong and the fluids are filled to proper levels. The steering is precise and the car tracks true. The brake pads are well within acceptable limits and the braking is straight and sure. The emergency brake is properly adjusted and fully functional. All lighting systems, windshield wipers and the factory original AM/FM/CD radio work, as well. Cosmetically, the cars body and paint rate very high, indeed. The body gaps (including doors, hood and trunk) are excellent and there are no reports of accidents or damage. There is no significant damage to the body and only a few minor cosmetic issues that do not detract from the overall lovely appearance of the Alfa. Specifically, the front "nose" that is often times damaged, is free from dents/damage. The doors and sides are free from any major door dings / dents and the bumpers show very well overall. There is a small scratch on the front and rear bumper toward the center of the bumper (difficult to see in the photos). Other imperfections include a few trunk "upward" indentations (again, quite minor and not visible in the photos) caused by placing items in the trunk. The cars paint is absolutely beautiful and free from major flaws or damage. It is very smooth, high glass and free from any signs of orange peel or other significant imperfections. The color is fantastic and is a wonderful contrast to the tan interior and high quality rear convertible top "boot" that retains all of its original fasteners and clips. Any very minor paint imperfections require a close, critical inspection to be identified. The Alfa body is truly in excellent condition and is totally straight with no signs of previous or current accident damage. Perhaps most important, the Alfa Spider is totally free from any signs of rust or pitting. Additionally, the underside of the car is incredibly clean and dry with solid floor pans and no signs of rust in the rocker panels, chassis or suspension components. The interior is in very good condition and the following highlights should be noted: ? Factory original interior with no modifications ? Interior shows signs of "easy use" for this vintage "open" sports car ? Excellent carpet & trim ? No dash cracks and dash not covered by dash pad or cover ? Totally clear gauges with excellent readings and fully functionality ? Clean, rust free trunk (excellent trunk carpet) ? Original tools jack & spare ? Factory installed Alfa Romeo radio (usually changed to an inexpensive aftermarket unit) ? Factory air conditioned Note: the air conditioning was recently tested and found to be capable of working but in need of an A/C pressure switch. We are selling it as is although our mechanic indicates that the A/C can be repaired and the owner says it was functional just a few months ago The trunk is as clean as the rest of the car and contains the factory original spare, jack and tools. The rear trunk "spare tire well" is totally dry and clean and free from signs of any rust or damage. The color is consistent with the exterior body color supporting the cars original rare factory color. Finally, the engine bay and underside of the engine, transmission and rear end are exceptionally clean and dry. They have the appearance of a much newer car and reflect the excellent care that the Alfa has received over the years. HIGHLIGHTS - MECHANICAL CONDITION * Very Well Maintained by mature owner / drivers - never abused * Original delivery history and documents * Service by Alfa Romeo dealer & professionals * Extremely strong mechanical components/excellent driving Alfa * Excellent oil pressure, water temperature and charging readings * NO Issues with engine performance / operation * Excellent transmission with no characteristic syncromesh Issues / problems - No noise, shifting issues or other issues * Passed California smog within the previous 90 days SUMMARY The Alfa is not only a pleasure to look at but also a pleasure to drive! It drives like a considerably newer vehicle and brings us back to when these cars were new. It is incredibly fun to drive and does not exhibit any drivability problems. If you are interested in owning one of the Series 4 Alfa's exported to the USA and are seeking an excellent, high quality car to use and drive, this is definitely a car to consider. The car is absolutely striking and is finished in what is arguably the most rare and sought after color combinations of Metallic Red / tan leather & suede interior. The body is very straight and the paint is high gloss and free from major dents and damage. Even the front of the Alfa is free from the typical "road rash" that exists on so many of the Alfa Spiders. Any minor imperfections are so minor that they require a close, critical inspection to be noticed and do not detract from the appearance and beauty of the Alfa. The panel fit is excellent and the doors, hood and trunk close solidly and securely. The rubber seals are excellent as is the exterior trim. We have owned over 30+ Alfa's during the past 25 years and can say with confidence that is one of the best examples of a later model Alfa Spider Veloce that we have had the pleasure of owning. Please keep in mind; Alfa Romeo is returning to the USA and these cars are bound to increase in value. We ask that you carefully review the photographs to get a feel for the superior quality of this particular car compared with other Alfa's in the marketplace. Please give us a call at 925-846-1451 if you have any specific questions regarding this Alfa Spider Veloce. ABOUT THE ALFA ROMEO SPIDER VELOCE The Alfa Romeo Spider was introduced at the 1966 Geneva Motor show, receiving rave reviews. The car was designed by Battista Pininfarina, founder of the Turin based design house, and designer of a wide range of Italian exotic automobiles. Over the years, numerous changes were made to the car, and the styling remained very pleasing even in light of increased requirements for stronger bumpers, and safety equipment. The mid-1980's brought the square tailed cars with front chin spoilers, subtle rear trunk lip spoilers and larger side view mirrors. Unlike some of the other European sports cars, the lines of the Alfa matured very gracefully, until the end of the production of the Alfa Spider in 1993. Early Alfa Spider's were equipped with 1600 twin cam engines which were later increased in size to two-liter, fuel injected versions. The larger, current engines, proved to be very reliable, and offered excellent drivability, torque, and good overall performance for a small convertible. This particular 1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce is equipped with the considerably more desirable features including the following: * 2.0 Liter (1962cc) Twin Overhead Cam Engine * Fuel Injected Engine * 5-Speed, Fully Synchronized Transmission * Electronic Ignition * Independent Front Suspension * Front Anti Sway Bar * Power Assisted 4-Wheel Disc Brakes * Steel Belted Radial Tires * Air Conditioning * Power Windows * Beautiful Black Leather Interior * Adjustable Head Rests * Electronic Tachometer * Water Temperature, Oil Pressure & Voltmeter Gauges * Padded 4 Spoke Sport Steering Wheel * Driver's Side Air Bag * 2 Speed Electronic Washer/Wipers * Dual Side View Mirrors * 50 State Version - Catalyst System * Locking Vent Windows * Day/Night Rear View Mirror * Tinted Glass * Striking Factory Spider Alloy Wheels The last body style of the Alfa Spider Veloce is considered by many to be the "Best of the Best", in Alfa Romeo convertibles. They are comfortable, fun to drive, and offer very attractive styling, at an affordable price. Unlike many of the earlier British roadsters, the Alfa's offered increased refinement, performance, and reliability, as well. They also came with improved "creature comforts" including air conditioning, power windows, nice sound systems, power steering and beautiful interiors. "Opening up" the car to the sky above is simply a matter of undoing (from the driver's seat) the two latches from the windshield area, and pushing it back to the rear storage area. Instant convertible! Considering their size, the Alfa Spider even offered ample trunk space for those long weekends on the coast, or to your favorite holiday destination. By 1991 the Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce carried a sticker price of approximately $25,000. Needless to say, this represented a relatively expensive sports car "in the day." MISCELLANEOUS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. Has it received a safety / light inspection? Yes, the car has been checked for turn signals, brake lights, and license plate lights. 2. What is the total mileage on the Alfa? The odometer currently shows 44,885 and based on the records, there appears to be chronological documentation that the miles are correct. Also, and perhaps most important, the Car Fax report supports the accuracy of the mileage. 3. Was the work completed by professionals? Yes, all of the mechanical work was done professionally, and to a high standard. There I no history of a "Backyard mechanic" or "Do it yourself" mechanic has worked on this Alfa Romeo Spider. 4. What were the results of the independent inspection? The Alfa passed with no problem and no safety issues were identified. 5. What are the cars needs (if any) at this time? The vehicle is in very nice cosmetic condition and, as we have indicated, runs and drives well. The car has been very well cared for over the years and it shows. Of course, as a 1993 the car shows the typical minor paint chips and imperfections consistent with its age but its condition is far better than the quality of the large majority of vehicles that we see in this age range. 6. The air-conditioning, a common problem with all older Alfa's has been checked and is fully functional. While the majority of Spider owner's do not find a use for the A/C, it is refreshing to find an example where it actually works! 7. Does the car have seat belts and air bags? Yes, factory shoulder harnesses (no belts in the rear area). The car is equipped with a driver's side airbag for safety. 8. What is the condition of the convertible top and does the frame work function well? The convertible is absolutely beautiful, free from any damage or flaws having been recently changed. The window is perfectly clear and the car was always stored with the top in the up position, covered with a car cover in the garage. 9. Can we have the vehicle inspected? Absolutely, we encourage inspections of this Alfa by serious, qualified individuals, or professional inspection companies. All we ask is that you call us at 925-846-1451 to arrange a convenient time since we are in and out of our offices quite a bit. We are unable to allow inspections 24 hours prior to the end of the auction as we are closed on Sunday. 10. Can you provide some "ballpark" costs of shipping costs around the United States? Yes, on a fully insured, ENCLOSED carrier (we do not recommend the more common "open" transporters for a car of this caliber) and delivered to your door, about $1500.00 for most of the East Coast, $1300.00 to some of the Southern States, and around $1000 to points in the Midwest. The cost to Los Angeles would be in the area of $500.00. PLEASE check with us as these are just estimates, NOT firm shipping costs, and rates are changing regularly due to fuel costs, exact locations, and other factors. PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER As always, we recommend that you carefully review the seller's background of any collector car being sold over the Internet. We believe that it is important to ask yourself a number of questions including, but not limited to: - How long have they been in business? - How much experience do they have with collector cars? - How many positive collector car vehicle sales have completed (positive EBay feedback)? - How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle? - Do the photos show details of the interior, exterior, top, chrome, etc. or are they simply "Glamour Shots" taken from a distance? - Does the seller have a surety bond to protect the financial transaction? - What about insurance, licensing by the state, and a local business license? - Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, grievances? - Do they enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation? - Can the seller assist with funding sources, transport and out of state/country sales?
