Vehicle Detail
Introduction: I have enjoyed driving the del Sol since 2002. She has been one of the very best investments of my life as a fun, reliable and sporty car. At this point her finest days are past, but she could still be fixed up or parted out. You'll find very few replicas as the del Sol was only made from 1993 to 1997. The reserve price on this auction has been set at a typical salvage value, but the Kelley Blue Book value is $1,250. Engine: The 1.6 Liter SOHC 16-Valve 4 Cylinder engine runs, but it has started to sputter. It appears as if it isn't getting the fuel that it needs. I do not recommend driving it since it is emitting a fuel odor. The 5 speed manual gears, clutch and transmission all function properly. Mileage: There are 261,065 miles on the original engine and transmission. The MPG is rated at 33 in the city and 39 on the highway. Doors and Windows: Power windows are throughout the car including the rear window. The passenger side window will push up the seal or track on the side. It's best to keep it lubricated with silicon. Both manual door locks work, but I don't recommend locking the driver side. Part of the door jam is bubbled out with rust. This makes the lock prone to getting stuck. Exterior: The car is painted in silver, which is a rare find since silver was only available on the 1997 model. It originates from Cleveland and has rust throughout. There is a bra on the front, but the section over the hood is missing. The lower section conceals a crack in the bumper. The car features a removable roof panel that lifts off and is stored in the trunk. The trunk has a locking mechanism that allows you to flip it up and store cargo beneath. Interior: The only blemish on the cloth seats is a small hole that has worn through on the passenger's side and a smudge of paint on the driver's side. The factory floor mats with the del Sol emblem are still in the car. The driver's side mat shows significant wear. The heater, fans and the rear defroster all function properly.Stereo: An after market Sony XPLOD stereo system with a single disc CD player is included. The original factory speakers are throughout the car. The speaker cover on the driver side door is missing. Brakes and Tires: The front brake pads were replaced in August 2010. The whole rear brake assembly was replaced in March 2011. The front tires are showing significant wear. The rear tires have good tread. The car would benefit from an alignment. Unavailable Options: This is the most basic trim and does NOT include air conditioning, cruise control or power steering. Shipping: The buyer is responsible for all related shipping costs. The car is located in Cabbagetown, Atlanta, GA. I prefer for the buyer to pick it up with a tow truck. I would consider driving it to Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron or Cleveland if the buyer first pays to have the fuel issue repaired.
